Wink How many of you plan to keep your FRS for a LONG time?

I'm talking 5~10 years down the line and laughing at those annoying teenagers nagging you to sell your car (to them).

Edit: I just picked up my MT FRS today and you guys were right. Driving manual does feel better. I've always been a pro-automatic, zealous technology-first, I.T. geek who always thought everything automated and calculated down to the millisecond was better. But now I understand why people drive manual; I feel more connected with my car.

I plan to keep it for at least 5 years. Possibly more if nothing better comes along (including a better FR-S/86).

Till I die if I can make the payments, or if a miracle occurs and someone makes a rwd 2300 lb doublewishbone rock solid turbo 4 coupe for under $20k.

Basically an interation of three cars:
1. Eg Civic Coupe (double wishbone), 2300lb
2. Focus 40+ mpg turbo inline 4 (ecoboost or Chevy's version in the Sonic)
3. old AE86, RWD + LSD

All for under $20k.

Ain't gonna happen.

I think this FR-S is a lifer.

Lets face it there ain't going to be an other RWD coupe built like this under 2700lbs until the IIHS lobbiests are locked up in a Fed penaterary, ain't gonna happen. Hell this car was supposed to be under 2500lbs, luckily the design team got smart about it and used the regulations to stiffen the chasis rather than band-aide it.

There is a point where you build a light weight car, or a flimsy car, or just invest big buckss and make a 635 BMW, there is a give and take. I think this FT86 got it right.

How long I keep it will depend on a couple of things. One, how reliable and trouble free it becomes will have a lot to do with how long I keep it and the other thing is what changes/improvements they make over the coming years. About time Toyota (Scion) comes out with something I can't live without I'll trade my present FR-S in for that.

Around 100,000 miles ill let it go, sell it cheap to some young kid so he can learn what it means to drive a car. Not use it as a appliance but use it at you would anything else you love, with care and passion.

Am I the only one who has a life time power train warranty? That is reason enough to me.

Last car I owned that I loved this much I regretted selling it every day since. Don't think I will be doing that with this car.
