Just to keep things calm and in prespective. Toyota/Scion will be 110% N/A. Subaru hasn't released a damn thing about weight or power, like the Toyo crowd has been preaching for months. There is a good reason for that. Subaru hasn't said turbo or no turbo, they have said they understand the history and spirit of the car, but that doesn't mean they wont add their own expertise to the mix for their model.

Does not matter or affect the Toyota crowd if Subaru put a damn diesel 1.6turbo in the thing. You'll still have your cracked out lightweight, fun, 2.0 n/a car. IF your the selfish type(and toyota fanboy and not want subaru), want all to have the same power and your model not be slow, get over yourself.I'm not saying this is the case, what I'm saying it does not matter what manufacture gets what engine, whether Subaru gets a 2.5, 3.0h6, turbo 2.0 or the same as Toyota is all up to them and still is in the air.

I won't believe it until I hear it from Subie.. but I can tell you if they make a 2.5 vs the Toyota 2.0, or *gasp* a turbo version, I would get the faster version without hesitation.

SOA has said more than that.

there are no plans for an AWD version or a Turbo of this car. The spirit of this car is small, simple, fun to drive and lightweight.

the truth is: the car (and also the Scion version that is based on it) will feature a 2.0 NA engine.

There is no turbo in the plan for launch. It's not that kind of car.

There may never be a turbo in the plan... but all we're talking about right now is the launch.

Yeah I think some would too, but all we know is Toyota/Scion is 2.0 N/A. Not even the hp/tq but just that. Subaru hasn't said anything concrete saying what they will do, have been very vague. They said n/a but there is going to be 2 Subaru models. It's already a sports coupe, the STi would be the race coupe but Subaru has never release an STi model without a significant increase in power. You could speculate 2 things for the STi, turbo or H6. The FB is based off the Tribeca H6 and is not much smaller than it.

So I would say that the Scion model and Subaru base model will be around $1-2k apart(brand mark up, creature comforts and small differences in Subaru) and released at same time. 6-12mo later the STi model would be another $4k on top starting.

Never in their right minds would they mention a turbo variant anyways. It would kill theirs and Toyota's initial launch by at least 20% in sales globally, a good chunk would wait another year for the release. Just mentioning supposedly "non-turbo" STi model recently has set some people back.. even me. No1 knew that was in the cards so soon, what else is next?

Like I said until I hear from someone or officially to actually answer it, clear cut and dry. It's still in the works. Again let me reiterate whether it does or not does no affect Toyota/Scion or N/A lovers/owners.

Due to my own build goals and want of learning to effectively drive a RWD car, I will opt for the NA Scion. It wouldn't do me any good to just hop in an over powered beast that I can't control and end up in the woods with it.

Nah, you'll be fine. Just respect the pedal and remember you can't power your way out of everything.

Yep, my first bike was an old Gixxer 750. Respect the throttle, keep 2 wheels down and you'll be fine. Same goes for a car. I rather go 100mph in 12 seconds than at 20+ seconds. You may get more of a rush at 20+ seconds but that's the rush of danger, not fun excitement you get with a quick sprint.

Use your imagination:
N/A - buuuur buuuuuuuurr buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUURR, insert possible crash here til speed is reached BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUR 100mph brakes..

Turbo - buuur tiss buuuur tis buuuuuur tis buur 100mph tis brakes....

ROLFMAO I hope someone got a laugh out of that.

Yeah, I understand. Though, ultimately I want to do a Rotrex build. I don't want to have to pay extra for a turbo I'm just going to rip off.

What Subaru has officially said is that there will be no turbo version of the FB motors.

So a turbo version would have to be next-gen WRX/STI sourced. Which would be pretty awesome. (I'm assuming, since we have no info on this motor either...)

What I'm really hoping for though is that the 2.0L NA will come from the architecture of the more performance oriented WRX/STI version.

I want confirmed, official engine specs goddammit!

As for why door-mounted vs on the pillar, it's for a couple reasons. First is ideal mirror placement. As you make the windshield more raked, the a-pillar is pushed further up front. If you have the mirror on the a-pillar, it can be positioned too far forward, which is bad for ergonomics/visibility.

On the visibility note, when having it on the a-pillar, you'd have a big black triangle in place of the triangle glass. Door mounted mirrors tend to be better aerodynamically.
My MINI has door mounted mirrors and its frameless windows don't have those little triangles. Also, I haven't had any problems with water getting through the seals in car washes or with the auto-adjust being "fooled" though I haven't tried too hard to fool it.

thanks...

i guess i couldve shared some info on my recent trip.

Hey man, it's the internet. Some people will believe you. Some won't. Most will just post pictures of cats.
