Haha ...

Im going to have to do it on a budget and do it myself...
Thinking of using my old 4 chanel JVC amp... 100w rms per chanel...
Possibly to power the stock speakers. Then work my way up from there...
Im broke as. My 12inch JVC wont fit. Maybe a custom box for it.

Very curious to see you setup with regards on how they worked on the boot space.

Also are they taking progress pics for you ?
12" will fit in one of those holes at the very back left or right if it's in a custom box.
If you need a monoblock on the cheap, I'm happy to sell you mine.

No progress pics unfortunately. I'll take some myself when they are finished.

Did a full focal rebuild of my sound system.
Head unit: Kenwood ddx630wbt with Garmin sat nav module
Front: 6.5" Focal KRX2 components
Rears: didn't bother replacing
Sub: Focal 27KX in custom fiberglassed box
All powered by a focal amp
Sounds so clean and crisp

Where did you get the "Toyota width" Kenwood Head unit - didn't think it was available in AUS

From a local kenwood dealer, they got the unit in and installed it too. With a reverse camera, bluetooth and the sat nav module it cost $1599 installed.

I'm currently installing an upgraded system in my daily so that I don't get tempted to drive the 86 everywhere. Total installation time will probably top 24 hours as I'm basically taking it right back to the wire with a bass speaker, self-contained sub, splits in the front, splits in the back roof-- All with a bare minimum of visible cable... Seriously, if you do this stuff right it takes a long, long, long time, and you have to be confident in your workmanship.

If I had a relationship going right now (and thus no spare time) I'd be happy to pay to have this done. Speaking of which, OP; Spruik your guys! Good car audio installers need some love. I'm sick of 20 minute Autobarn jobs where they never install a proper power feed, don't upgrade cable for >40w nominals, drill holes instead of routing cables properly and stuff harnesses under carpets...

Update!

YAY! It's all done! Took 3 days. First post has been updated with photos and a review.

TL;DR review:
Sounds great but feels flat/empty.
Rear brake light rattles.
Open to suggestions.

Oh! And I've spruiked the guys involved. =D

After fiddling around with the processor's EQ, I got it to sound pretty damn awesome! I've now got the sound I want with a sparkly high-end and a short, sharp kick.

Is it worth the 4.5k? Good question. Short answer: No, but...
Long Answer: ... but it is easily worth 3k. I could have saved 1.5k if I had chosen to go with cheaper speakers and only 1 sub and installed the lot myself. However, considering we've rebuild the boot, there are NO visible wires and the doors & boot are completely sound deadened, I'd say 4.5k is acceptable.

For all those saying I should have installed it myself: I HATE cabling. I am worse than a retarded monkey when it comes to running cables through a car. I get lazy and it ends up looking like shit. I would much rather pay someone who is experienced to do it for me. I'm more than happy to play with things that I enjoy, like building my own PC from scratch, but for me, spending 24 hours (+) trying to run cables from one end of my car to another just doesn't appeal to me at all.

Its a nice layout. Its worth it if you dont want to do it yourself. Or cant do it yourself.

Yes, its pricey. But hey if he likes it and is happy with it who cares. Sure beats my stock setup atm.

I would do it, but am on a budget. Going to be doing it all myself eventually.

Might have to come take some measurements and have a look to get some ideas !
