i dunno anything about that tsuchiya quote. it may just be personal preference for all i know. he probably doesnt want to shuffle or let go of the wheel when going triple digit speeds. and that is totally understandable... when he drifts, he shuffles his hands though so... i dunno... oh and dont get me wrong, if you're talking about a strict road racing car, wheel mounted is better. with column mounted paddles, you can make them larger and if you are have the wheel turned, you can either shuffle your hands to go closer to the 9 and 3 o'clock position to use the paddles. or you can simply let go of the wheel for a fraction of a second and shift like a manual. this is a road car with power steering. its perfectly ok to let go of the wheel for a fraction of a second. heck even F1 drivers have to let go of the wheel to change settings, etc. albeit mainly on the straights... obviously you wouldnt have to do this with wheel mounted paddles, but shuffling your hands isnt such a big deal and in fact a lot of instructors teach shuffle steering as the preferred method of steering so... ymmv... Bla give me the manual and I'll save the difference in money for something else. A slightly faster 0-60 time or a quicker shift doesn't mean anything to me unless I have three foot pedals and my left foot gets to play too.

No,
manual transmission > automated manual (DSG/DCT) > automatic with a torque converter. Most DSG and DCT are just automated manual transmission with less control, a little more weight, and $$$$. The few good ones you pay through the nose for them. I'm just teasing Zaku anyway. |

I'm spoiled with almost a decade of Honda transmissions. Although my current Mustang is punishing me. So I feel it will be an upgrade in between.
