I was driving home about a month ago from work. It was pitch black out. All of a sudden I heard a huge bang. When I got home. I realised my foot bumper was cracked and the Fender had been gouged. I hit a blown semi tire.

This was the night of the day that I had it opticoated.

I took it in for insurance repair and the quote was $1238 for a new bumper, a new fog light bezel, resurfacing the Fender and painting everything.

I paid my deductible and it took a month to get the bumper. They had to pull one off the assembly line in Japan. I'm happy to say it is fixed and looks great!

Well I had about the same damage on my bumper and had it replaced. - The bumper itself is only $299 - Paint and labor shouldn't be more than $500.

First, had a rock chip on my driver rocker panel; picked up some touchup from dealer and fixed that, no problem.
Thank goodness the rockers are textured to hide the touchup.

Now, I've got my driver door dinged...! GAHHH!! It's got a small grove and the paint was a little scuffed.
However, it did not make it through to the bare metal...

Never had any of my other cars dinged before and I parked everywhere!... Why did it have to be the BRZ...
Fack these people and their inability to open their doors properly... Seriously.

I've been very happy with it actually. The exterior has held up great since I got the car, and the interior was a little tacky at first, texture wise, like I had just put armor all on or something, but it dried up over the next day or two. You can't even tell it's there, but I've had a couple of rainy days get some water on the seats, and it just beads and comes right off with a quick swipe of a napkin or something. I'm happy with the decision to get it.

that sucks dude, at least it's in an isolated area. I also park in a parking garage, but I go down an extra level as less cars are there, but I know it sometimes can't be helped to have to park in a crowd of cars.

2 Weeks ago guys working on a cell tower dropped a cable and hit my rear quarter panel. I am going to sell my BRZ after I get it fixed. I never should have tried to buy a new car. FML.

To each his own, but having repainted panels is certainly no reason to sell the car. It will still look good-as-new, and the all the mechanical bits will still be in perfect condition. Did you buy the car to keep it in a protective box, or to drive it?

You would certainly make someone else's day if you sold it, however.

Not one but two

My BRZ is only 3 months old but it already had two reasons to go to the body shop. None of them were my fault.

One was a dent+scratch on the door I collected in a parking lot thanks to another parker, clearly an a..hole, who smashed his car's door into the BRZ.

The other one was a break in: one morning I found my car in the garage with the passenger side window shattered and the car searched inside. Damage: window, rubber gasket around window, weather strip under window. Of course the car was empty so they couldn't steal anything. They were just stupid worthless douches.

Btw, the body shop received the parts from Japan fairly quickly and did a good job fixing everything. The paint didn't need to be fully removed from the door because the dent+scratch only damaged the clear coat. There are no aftermarket parts on the market yet, so all replacement parts were OEM. The car looks like new again.

Where in Maryland did the break in happen?

Two weeks ago I was rear ended by an old lady in a F150. Rear bumper and rear left quarter panel are gone, 2 bent rear frame rails, curtain airbag deployed into my face, etc. Insanely it's not totaled. The estimate is somewhere around $13k , good thing I have good insurance. I've been off the forums for a couple weeks since I'm still pretty bummed out.

The first body shop gave me an estimate of late November to have all the parts in and I called bullshit. The next shop called around, got their hands on some back-ordered parts, and are trying to get to work ASAP. Should have her back on her feet by the end of October. If she doesn't drive right, I'll trade her in. :/
