Where as with us anyone born into as some may call it "The Highspeed Generation" (being that they grew up only knowing highspeed broadband and web2.0) might as well be from a whole different part of the world, because they experienced such a different lifestyle then we have.

in short: if you remember the sound of dial-up Internet, then you're of the previous generation from the girls now!! haha

/end random thoughts.
I'm partial to this. I firmly believe there is a generation between Gen X and the upcoming one.

Hmm, maybe we can call the previous generation, Gen Y, and the up and coming generation, Millennials? Add that level of distinction that the previous Gen still had some traditional culture to it.

I didn't grow up in China :P Besides, over there by the time internets became widespread everyone had a DSL connection.

But, now I remember: We were one of the last people to stop using dialup since my mom didn't want to pay for anything else lol. I think we switched to cable when I was in 4th/5th grade ish. I remember once my mom got pissed at me for playing games too much so she took away the modem. What I did was I dug out the old clunker pre 2000s computer, plugged it into the phone socket, and successfully continued playing Runescape on dialup

~0V from the post cat sensor I guess could make sense, because the oxygen content is supposed to go down (it's burned in the cat afterall), and as I understand lower voltage = lower oxygen concentration Since I have this super strong unburned gas smell I assume my car likes to spew out a bit of extra gas for whatever reason and that certainly helps consume oxygen too.

Now the load really bothers me though. The number clearly isn't directly correlated to throttle position, so that means it's being calculated off some different measured parameters. Except my OBD2 scanner is only able to track MAF, not MAP or barometric pressure. So what the hell is it using the calculate load? The ECU cannot possibly be doing stupid speed-density calculations and then trying to correlate that with MAF readings, that would be completely retarded. Since I can't read MAP, I have no idea what's really going on, but I think my passenger told me that when I floored it on the highway at 3500rpm instead of in the 2000s, the "load" was only 69%. I hope I don't have an air filter that has an inch thick layer of dirt stuck to it lol.

Smog is only going to get tougher to pass, so I think I'll replace the 2 sensors used for fuel trim sometime before the next smog check. Still tracking fuel economy and oil consumption of course, when I get a better idea of that I'll figure out what to do.

By the way, in 1st gear my car is a bit jerky, as in when it's engine braking then I step on the throttle, instead of bam kick of power, there's kick, back off slightly, resume power. Is this just a normal cable throttle thing, or is it an indication of dirty MAF/something else?
If you have the means to replace the O2 sensors, which I agree with to, why not do the filter as well. All three ae less then $90 before shipping, on rockauto.

I had a laserdisc player, loved it. So much better than anything else at the time. Didn't care for the RCA ones though (not sure to which one you are referring).

My father-in-law was the first person I knew with a VCR, it was the size of desktop computer. He still won't give up using a VCR, records everything on VCR tape. I can't stand to watch one any more, but I do still have one or two in the electronics graveyard.

I also had one of the original Pong sets when they were new.

We had a Sega Genesis up until about a year ago when we sold it to a kid at a yard sale who was ecstatic about finding one.

My son just traded in the last of our PS2 stuff towards an xBox 360 (I'm a PS3/Computer person myself) this past weekend. I couldn't believe GameStop would still take it and the games. Well, most of them anyway.

I also have the 5 1/4" disks for Windows 1.1 in the archives.

Does anyone know of any electronic technicians / engineers on here. I'm trying to troubleshoot something but I deal with mil spec kit and this is an office supply laminator. I just want to bounce ideas off someone with more experience on this type of thing to make sure the readings I'm getting mean what I think they mean.

Thanks!

When you are trying to teach others, these sort of things are invaluable...
Funny you show that off here. I was discussing how this form of videos can be useful in helping those to learn (myself included) about machining with other executives. So apparently within these next 2 years I should have some videos made for new presentations, meaning I signed up more work for myself.

I would have never guessed you're that old dude, but I know what your saying. Last girl I dated was 19 and man we were not on the same page more than half time. However some girls that young are a hit and miss, so don't think all 18 or 19 year olds are blatantly juvenile.

As long as you genuinely desire each other then age don't mean shit and IMO, it's better when the guy is older then the woman preferably 4 years or more.
I hated when most girls my age (H.S.) would rather have dated older guys, but when you get older it doesn't bother you anymore.

Seriously? I remember growing up with a VCR and no DVD player. We finally got rid of it (or maybe it's still sitting in storage somewhere) when I was about 11, I remember that by that time it was a 15 year old unit or something and it would regularly chew up tapes and such. Rewinding tapes, good old times.

Laserdisc is a bit too old for me though lol.
