I would tell you to do an oil change now, oil analysis leave no guess work; its past time.

Did my first change at 4500, mainly because I shot for 3k but got lazy. Quite a bit of metal in the oil analysis but they said it was normal for a break-in change and the oil itself was in good shape.
I'm pushing 6k more miles for this second change and will again post oil results.

If you did a UOA, you should scan it and post it.

Although I care about my car, I'm can't see myself spending $10 per quart on oil. Can anyone recommend something that I can either pick up at a local store/shop that will do? I was going to use Mobil 1, but it seems it's not 0w20. Or can I just use Mobil 1 and be good? Just looking for some advice.

Mobil 1 has never had great success in the Subaru world. I think there are a few threads suggesting types but the oem seems to work well

Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 full syn. it's a diesel oil that works really well in boosted subarus. I ran the T5 10w30 in an old high mileage N/A and that seemed to like it.

I'm running the oem oil in the brz for now. Castrol has a 0w30 that's supposed to be good, i think it's made overseas or something. I don't know of another 0w20 but have done zero research for oil for this car.

Do we know what kind of oil our vehicles use from factory?

I just called up Subaru today and they told me the vehicle comes with "break-in" oil from factory.
That and it needs to stay in the engine for the recommended 5000 -10000 kilometers before its first "service type A" (oil change).

Motul & Rotella are my primary preference .. then amsoil/penzoil .. then its like w.e lol
But I'm going to use the dealer's mobil 1 oil for now .. might as well save that $ and spend elsewhere ... apparently I'm on their good side and hooking me up lol

Posted this on another thread, but I bought a Fumoto valve (F-108S) and 12 qts of Royal Purple 0w20 oil. I've got 1300 miles on the clock so I think I'll take her in between now and 2000 miles. I'm planning on taking it in to a Subaru dealership to have the oild & filter changed (with my oil) and have them install the Fumoto valve. I hope it all goes well.
