BTW, I looked on p48 of the manual that phenom86 provided, and I see a square connector on the back that looks kinda like an XM antenna plug, but it looks too big. Sigh. I was hoping to avoid tearing into the dash again. Diagram is just too lo-res to be sure. Anyone else willing to take a look? And a pic? Pleeeez? Well, logically then, if the external XM tuner would conflict with a built-in tuner, the mere fact that the external tuner works when connected suggests that the BeSpoke head does not in fact have an embedded tuner - that and the fact that the onscreen XM source button did not appear until I connected the tuner module. My understanding, is that "Satellite Ready" means you still need to buy the receiver. At least that's how it is on my other Pioneer Avic head units. However, for those, I bought a Pioneer XM receiver for $50. It came with all the necessary connections...so there was no "fit kit".
So, $50 to get my other head units working with satellite. $270 to get this OEM one working. Crazy expensive!!! |

Can you all who ordered, take pictures of the parts please?
It would benefit us to see how cheap this can be done for while we're getting ripped off on OEM parts. $270 is the same cost of a decent aftermarket radio, we shouldn't have to pay this much.

Here's a diagram of the rear. Not sure what the antenna and receiver plugs look like though.

I do not have pics of the parts in the box, but the fit kit is basically an antenna, a data cable to go between the tuner and the head unit, and the brackets to mount the tuner box. Just a bunch of ugly little bits, to be hidden away. The tuner itself is a silver colored box with an antenna jack, and connections for various data cables. I do have some pics of the antenna install, and some screen pics of the head unit though, and I will be posting those in the very near future. The only thing on the 2nd page of sources was Bluetooth and CD until the XM module was plugged in. |

While I agree that songza, pandora, etc... are really cool streaming apps, this thread is about getting SiriusXM integrated into the OEM head unit. I've tried for years to stream music through my head-unit. While it does work, it just isn't the same. I personally think it's a hokey way to listen to music. Not to mention, anytime I'm traveling between cities through the desert or mountains and cell service is spotty...it flat out doesn't work. I can get satellite stations pretty much anywhere!
Thanks for the suggestion, but this just isn't what this thread is about. |

Some pics
OK, I know - don't flame please - these are some pretty hodeous pics I know, but I thought I'd share in case they might be helpful to some. That Pioneer tuner for $50 would be awesome - wish I'd known about it - would have been worth a shot anyway, and I bet it uses a regular XM antenna so if it breaks you don't have to get one from Toyota for mucho dinero... Oh well - water under the bridge for me at this point. Maybe someone else can do a writeup with that cheaper solution?
Anyway, here are a few pics of my install: >>edit - oh yeah - the XM antenna is exactly centered behind the FM one - it just looks off to the side because of the angle I took the picture... And if you came here from the "How-I-Did-It", here's a link back: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...9&postcount=39 Last edited by Katana; 09-15-2012 at 08:32 PM. |
