No more trying to find gas that cancels out the noise.

Quick fix guys.
would be nice... took mine in 2 times and they still tell me its normal.

then again im not sure about this dealer... they told me they put on a suspension fit kit for the rear tapping noise that everyone and myself are/were having. which is way different fix then what everyone else is saying fixed theirs

im going somewhere else soon.

Did you get the engine really hot yet via some spirited driving yet? Fill up with E10 91 or 93 octane gas yet?

They didn't just replace it with the same fuel pump. It's a new one that Toyota built because the old one is faulty.

As for how many KM's. Not too much. Been about 200KM so far and yes I fill up on 91 all the time and drift like a maniac

I'll let you guys know if it comes back in the next 800KM but I think it's fixed.

Just joined and this was one of the first things I searched for. Drives me nuts at drive-thrus. Mine started when I left the lot from my 3k oil change, but it didn't seem consistent so I forgot about it for a while.

Last weekend I decided to fiddle with removing my DRLs. All I really did was remove/replace the front plastic under-cover and the chirping went away. I could still hear the DI tick-tick but mostly with the hood up. It was a definite change.

After a trip up to Palomar Mountain, I started hearing it again. I figured it was due to the underside of the car being held together by plastic pop-clips. But I'm just over 7k now and will be taking it in for the oil change and have them check it out.

Someone mentioned AC on/off. I have a different noise associated with the blower motor. AC on/off doesn't matter, it's if the fan motor is running at all. At lower fan speeds, the sound isn't so bad. But it's been hot here and when it's on full blast, it's really annoying. I'll be having the dealer check that as well, but wanted to point out someone may be associating it with another issue.

I wasn't aware that a new revised DI fuel pump was available? Can you please post the part # so we can compare it to the faulty pump part #?

I thought this would come out as a TSB, but apparently there isn't one out yet.

700 miles and I can hear it chirping away. Don't remember my 06 STi making this noise. Not the same engine I know, but this shouldn't be an issue. Watching this thread!

1400km (800 miles) chirping when hot.

Always some headaches with first year cars... I know its been covered already lots

This is nothing to my then new 09 Mini JCW, High pressure fuel pump failure, and then cam chain tensioner failure in 300km. BMW/Mini refused to stand behind their product and repair. Traded it in 3 weeks later, for a Toyota. Good riddance.

08 MINI Cooper S after the STi... great car when under warranty. Until I had to pay for Chain tensioner and waste gate failure and bunch of other things before I traded it in. That MINI was built for weekends, not daily drives.
I'm hoping these issues with the FR-S won't hurt my opinion of this car.

If you want the issue resolved get involved. No use wondering or pondering about it, if the dealer trys to blow you off like mine did call SOA 1-866-707-2466 open a case and be entitled to resolution.

Spartan, Is this the same DI pump mentioned by Curt previously?:

When all of the USA warehouses have inventory on the new pump the TSB will be releasd and available for the dealers to order.

How do I know ? I also own a GT86, and have been the parts manager at this dealership for 30 years with a good friend in the powertrain division at TMS Calif.

took mine to the dealer (I'm here right now as I type this) and the certified mechanic for the frs (didn't know Toyota requires that) said the exact same thing everyone is saying, it's the di pump that is making the chirp. he is currently ordering the replacement part for me.

Looking back to June, I found the following post in another thread:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showpost.php?p=273052&postcount=95

The part replaced was: SU003-00328 PMP AY-FUEL.H PRS

Which is for the DI fuel pump. I'm curious, anyone here that has already had their part replaced, is this the same part number for the replacement they installed? If it dates back to June, something tells me this isn't a redesigned DI pump. Would they use the same part number for a revised part? Just trying to get to the bottom of this issue.
