I heard the crickets after about 300 miles, but only if the car was driven for more than 15 mins or so. It wouldn't do it when it was cold. I then changed my oil at 1000 miles to get all the break-in junk out of my engine. I replaced the oil myself with Mobil 1 0w-20 and the cricket noises have not come back since, I have 1200 miles now on the odo. The engine also seems to run smoother with Mobil 1. My suspicion is that the oil from the factory isn't so great, once it heats up and perhaps the cricket noises could be valvetrain noise?

Been using shell since day 1. Had crickets frequently in the first 3000 miles and now i see a big reduction. I've gone days without the noise but it still lingers...

Wow. Same here. Picked up those crickets around 300 miles and all the way up to 1100. Took my in car in for an oil change, and I have not heard them since. First tank of gas was whatever came with and I have been using Chevron 91 Techron.

I noticed the cricket noise around 1200 miles. The car also felt like it was a diesel when it was starting from 1st gear.

I was using E10 91 octane, and after reading this forum I switched to pure gas 92 Octane.

I've driven for a day now and the cricket noise hasn't come back. I've also noticed that the engine is really purring again!

Took my FR-S in for it's first oil change a few days ago and told them about the crickets and idle drop. According to them, they are both normal. Yay!!!

Yes, the dealer said it to me. I'm getting mine replaced when they get the part in. Go to the dealer to get it fixed.

Woot! This is big news if a true fix has been developed. Is the updated part already in production or is it going to be a while until they part is available?

I'm not sure if its already in production but they told me it would be about 2 weeks before they get the part.

I' wasn't impressed because I sold my 350z because it had all these weird noises that couldn't be explained and now I got this car and already has a weird cricket noise lol. I'm really happy that they can fix it though.
