On my 600whp+ STi I don't have the top vent back into the intake. We normally run it under the car - with out any problems.

Crawford told me they did things a little different on this unit ... Can't wait to have one

Oil in the inlet of the AOS bot no oil in the outlet lines to the motor

This is a correct assessment... 70% of the oil going through the intake is from the PVC valve.

There is very little vacuum (if any) at the hose going into the intake tube before the throttle body. There may be some oil vapor there, but not much. It may show a little grime on your TB butterfly in time, but this is not where most of the oil finds its way to the combustion chamber. Where is the PCV valve on this engine? There is usually a large (3/8" I.D. or so) vacuum hose that runs from the PCV valve directly to the intake manifold after the throttle body. There is strong vacuum there (except at WOT or under boost), and that one sucks a lot of oil vapor/droplets. I experimented with placement before and after the throttle body on my Mustang, and found that I caught FAR more oil running the catch can between the PCV valve and the intake manifold. My Mustang is pushing 10-12 PSI of boost and the oil on the before throttle body side was negligible, so I doubt a naturally aspirated engine would see much accumulation. That said, it wouldn't hurt to run 2 cans...some people do.
That Moroso one looks pretty slick. I have a similar can on my other car, but no drain. The bottom section of the can unscrews so I can dump it out.
One more thing... letting the gunk that accumulates in the catch can get back into the engine is bad mojo. Don't even think about it.

@Crawford

seeing you're offering your AOS for the BRZ as v.2 - it means it's heated via the coolant lines?

could you provide more info on that specific connections diagram for the BRZ?

I live in severe-cold climate, so having a heated AOS would be a bless, since there is no condensation happening, right?

Also, why does the add now say version two? It just went to production and we are already on V2?

they had two versions previously of their AOS. the first one didn't have the coolant lines like the V2 has. This was to keep the can warm to prevent condensation in the tank.

Yuuuuup!

Got the last one at a sweet price. Should be just as effective as the Crawford one for less than half the price.

Can you elaborate on your mounting? I'm pretty sure mine will come with the same bracket. Did you remove the passenger's side strut brace to drill small holes then use metal screws or what? Details please :happy0180:

well, for the money shipped, its a great value, unless it only actually catches 40% the oil, its 40% the cost of some of the solutions being offered, minus a name, moroso is dated, but solid design, dig that its a clamshell.

volume wise, blow by pressures should be fine and airflow does remain positive even with smaller 3/8 hoses and barbs. they do sell a bigger kit but for a 2.0L motor there is no need for overkill

You got it install was easy, I cannibalized the old fittings off the sound pipe, one of them is a grey plastic that I will replace with brass; the pipe diameter is 3/8 and to get one end on to the factory barb I used some hot water to soften the rubber. this is another part of the install I will redo with a brass step down or a molded hose for a more permanent setup, but what i have for now did fine on a spirited 2 hr run.

Now if the crawford has coolant lines and is a superior design, then hey, I will likely ante up for a better solution when I can afford it, priority wise this is better than nothing for now
anyone have pics of this v2 aos from them? I'm interested in knowing more

I do not think so, but if it's necessary to make a change for a turbo motor then we will. The current AOS was designed with a turbo application in mind.

There is not scoop in the hood of the BRZ to freeze the AOS, so we think the under-hood temps will be enough to keep the AOS from freezing. Also we have changed the design on this unit so the drain has a 300% larger opening.
