CEL/SLIP repair impressions
ok ive put 20 miles on the car since they replaced my oil sending unit. cam gear exhaust side and somethign else that i cant tell from all the abreviations.
it seems to idle better, still feel a blip randomly but it wont move the rpms. However i have a new weird situation im not sure if its THIS car or still an issue. Sitting at 600 solid rpms... i lightly press the gas pedal(take almost an INCH of pedal movement) and the rpms first DROP to about 400 then go up... I have never had a car go DOWN at first throttle before. I dont mean im stomping the pedal and flooding it.. i mean a light tap.. normal ? paranoid ? suggestions? Thanks. |

Not normal. Take it back to the dealer and have them look at it.

Crap I think my car was doing that a bit.
I killed it at a few lights due to giving it a blip with little corresponding rpm blip. I thought I was just being an idiot. |

So typical idle speed is 600? Mine seems to be 700.
Just curious. |

I've put about 100 miles since my repair and my car does this as well. I actually thought the idle issue was coming back, but it is exactly how you described. This is very interesting... |

What gmoohker said. Vacuum leak or some programming in the ECU but I doubt that.

I noticed this today. At first I thought maybe I wasn't giving enough gas as i was letting out the clutch - like it was engaging before I was applying throttle and therefore rpms were dropping. But then I tried replicating with car in neutral - rpms dropped slightly before increasing when applying gas. Very odd, and the engine didn't seem happy. Car was not fully up to temp. Cruised a few miles more, and couldn't replicate it after that.
So not thrilled about that development... Otherwise, over 1000 miles and she's been solid...so allow me to jinx myself.

I have an interesting observation.
My car did this today just now. Idle dips a little then goes up when I tap on the gas. Car has 5xx miles, runs great, never any hesitation, never been in the shop for anything. VIN build is 6030xx... Does my car have an updated ECU or something? Last edited by mact; 09-14-2012 at 04:21 PM. |

I'm aware of that thread, but that's only for people who have had their cars repaired due to the CEL and slip light coming on. My car has not experienced this so far. The only thing I have experienced on my car is the characteristics of the throttle similar to some people with repaired cars, which is why I ask, does my car contain some or all parts used in the repair action of affected cars? |
