You are absolutely right. I have done quite a bit of mods to my car and like you had to wait patiently. The only exception is that in every case I knew what to expect. Take the AFE intake for example. It has been delayed twice, but there was communication from the vendor personally.

Agreed and maybe if John could commit to a weekly??? update everyone would feel more in the loop? I don't think there is an answer that will work for everyone (expected) but there has to be a medium that will work until he can catch up.

I have to edit that I think John has made honest attempts to give general info/updates, albeit not direct or concrete for some people's tastes but I am very clear that cables are out and tunes are going out in some managed order. He doesn't have to share all his secrets or processes does he? LOL

Agreed. This was initially supposed to be for up to 15 people. We are reaching "no good deed goes unpunished" status here. He could have cut it off at 15 and has been pretty open about what extending the deal entails, and that it will by the nature of the beast require patience. In turn there are serious savings over the regular price. I think that there are enough posts to get the point across about the fact that everyone would like better communication (a valid point I'm sure given the consensus), but at some point this will reach f*ck this sh*t status, refunds will be issued, and the product will be available at $950 when cables are in stock. In my opinion, I think that everyone should wait for John to process and respond to these posts before the negative turn this thread has taken escalates any further. Will "better communication" slow down how long it takes to get tunes? Probably. But if that's what people are asking for then I'm sure he can shift some of his time from getting tunes out to providing more frequent updates. That is a decision for John to make, but he will need some time to react to feedback and make it.

Don't mean to seem unappreciative of your effort and willingness to help out John and buyers. Been a long day. Filled out my info.

Aug 27th 2012 Update - Group Buy Related
**********************

I can't believe how this group buy turned out.

I was expecting 15-20 people - I've lost count - but If I had to take a guess we have about 60 people in on this.

EcuTek ProECU Kit's are on back order.

The earliest I can expect them is 1 month.

When I get back to CT I will setup a loaner cable and ship it out to anyone without a cable.

Some of your are willing to meet up with other forum members to flash their car - Thank You.

Once all the guys who have cables are flashed then I can start worrying about people that want to meet up and share a cable.

A lot of you already sent me a email with your Dongle Info etc - at the time this was a good idea, but this form that was made is a better one.
There's a list that's generated from the form that I asked people to fill out. ( see first page. )

This list is for me, and it contains personal information that shouldn't be shared with everyone.

I have also have a hard copy of all payments , in piles sorted.

As things go out I'm crossing things off the list generated from the form.. Then marking the hard copy with shipped status. That goes into a other pile to be checked after everything is done - again

Those who didn't fill out the form.. Well I have your hard copy and will contact you when the list is processed and hard copy is down to a manageable level again.

But like I've said multiply times - there are no cables as of yet - see first page of this thread 30-60 days - I think I posted. Sooner likely , no promises.

So nothing has changed, this is now a waiting game.. It has been like this for weeks now.

*Edit* It's been like this since the Aug 27th Update located on the first page (also quoted on the top of this post)

This information was also located on the first page of my group buy thread dated 8-24-12.

The last post in my group buy thread did not reference this thread, so if you haven't been following this - I am sorry - but you should have already had known there was a wait.

The only stuff going on in here is tunes for people with cables about 25 of you.... And tune updates, second e85 or 100 octane tunes.

I don't think I need to come in here everyday and remind everyone there are still no cables.

There's a loaner cable out , it's going out to those of you that already have tracking info in your email.

If you don't have tracking - you do not have a loaner cable coming to you.

Everything has priorities, to me getting untuned customers who have their cable or my loaner cable comes first.

Then reviewing datalogs and sending out updates. Not to mention this intake bog thing that involved 4 people and 6 updates in one day.

Then shorting through my hard copy payments and preparing my office for a large shipment of cables

All while Answering PMs, non stop phone calls and trying to participate on the fourms ( not just this one or platform ) helping my sub dealers , work on my fuel system project for the BRZ and street tune 2-3 cars a day

Lunch doesn't fit in that but I manage to have dinner.

I figured everyone would know if they filled out the form so generating a list that would only turn into ' why is he before me' ' I submitted my info today but I'm not in the list' would take away my time from the more important things especially when I don't have cables to ship anyways.

If you want to help just wait like you have been and let me try and get through this all. For this to move forward smoothly a lot needs to be done before these cables arrive.

I don't need long Pms with you life story and why you need a cable before the next person. ( Worth mentioning because I got more than one )

I also don't want a second person. The amount of time it would take me to get this person up to speed then trust they prepare the paperwork or the tune/updated tune correctly ... Umm no. $150 per tune doesn't cover a second person anyways. So although a good idea, not possible.

People have talked about borrowing cables from each other - that's fine and Thank You.

I'm not processing any of those tunes until I have the others squared away. ( This was mentioned more than once )

John

You told me I would be one of the first to get the loaner cable but I have no tracking and there are people that paid after me that got their cable and tunes already. If cruzinbill will let me borrow his cable is there a way you could send me the tune please?

Just re-read the post and saw that if i borrow a cable that will be after the people with cables or the loaners which is fine.

Yes it does.

John I am more than happy to ease your stress. Feel free to take me off the list and send the money back.
PM me your payment info (paypal email, transaction ids) once I find everything I'll take care of it for you.

I don't know how you would enjoy my tune before paying for it...

Anyways:
EcuTek license $250
EcuTek Cable $350
Tune $150

I get the $150, EcuTek gets the rest

600 * $150 = $9000

I'm working my ass off for every penny of that

If it's ok with John, everyone that was part of the GB can add themselves to this doc. I never used Google Docs before, but would it make a mess if multiple people try to add themselves at the same time? If so, I'd be willing to make a list for John if it's ok with him and I'll do all the editing to this spreadsheet.

Ruskymx
Please please please I don't want or need another list.

Another list couldn't help me. I already have a very detailed list im working with

Thanks

John

lol its because of some dumb comment I made when I was insanely busy last week - basically said if I have to find the paper work I'm moving you to the bottom of the list..

Thank You - and I'm sure your not the only person.

I just don't understand what type of update needs to be communicated when there is no update

Damn john what happened to hitting me back up so I can make this payment with two cards! haha im just playing man, not like the cable is in stock anyway but I do wanna just pay it so its outta the way!

Hit me up when you get a chance so I can give my fiance back her card so I don't gotta carry it around with me all the time!

Thanks in advance,

Gregory Gawaran

PS. To all the guys wondering why its taking so long, im trying to make this man

and he doesn't even have time for that. If you don't have time to take someones money they are very busy! I agree with a lot of your guys frustrations but he didn't have to do a group buy, but he did anyways and saved 60 some odd people a couple hundred dollars.

I'll write it here as you may miss the PM.
In case of a group buy here in Italy, can I use the same cable for multiple cars, right?
Do I need a license for every car?

The $150 tune is just the "standard" one, or it can include specific option, like the O2 deactivation like I asked before?

I know I say it a lot, but thank you John for all your hard work. Once you get things squared away, my offer still stands for anyone willing to make the trip here. You can use my cable to get your tune. I know how to do everything, but make sure you clear it with John first.

Not to mention the unexpected fees you had to pay the shipping company that ate into your ability to do the $700 price point, so by my calculations, you're actually netting less than the $150 per tune and probably closer to the $100 point since you couldn't offer it up at $700 price.

In an ideal world, John would be able to focus solely on tuning research/analysis and tweaking. Others would handle his sales/marketing/customer support/purchasing/distribution/other logistics. In that world, however, this tune would no longer have been available at the groupbuy price point. Oh, and in that ideal world, ECUTek wouldn't have run out of cables either
