Permanent fix may be coming...they obviously found something as we just got this:

Quote:
Please note that Service Bulletin 02-132-12, DTCs Relating to the AVCS (Active Valve Control System) P000A, P000B, P000C, P000D, P0011, P0014, P0018, P0017, P0019, P0021 & P0024 has been removed from STIS for review.
Which likely means a new, updated diagnostic & repair procedure is coming. My guess is a ECM reflash....

I wonder how fast Subaru Canada will get this update.

Good info!

Thanks. Hopefully this reflash will be part of a TSB that those of us who's cars have not had a CEL/cam gear issue can have done to prevent it from happening.

Well, today's update is that there is no update, but I'm glad my CSR called me to tell me just the same. At least that part of this process has improved after enough screaming at Subaru to be more communicative and involve me.

That being said, initially my CSR said "and we're still tracking for the week of the 15th..." at which point I stopped her and said "whoa, whoa, 10th." She corrected herself, and it may have been a mistake given that the 15th isn't the beginning of a week, but I'm slightly cynical (as ever...) she was trying to get me to agree to a later date.

Still out of my car.

Still pissed off at Subaru.

Toyota just called us and blah blah blah...we will not have our baby back til mid October to end of October because the manufacture has to build the part and then express ship it to the dealership! We are just extremely livid by now!

I fell your pain, Scion agent just told me 3-4 weeks on parts. I express my concern about buying new car but getting repaired car. Told him won`t feel comfortable about keeping car without an extended warranty. He said he probably take care of it, we`ll see. All of you got same issues should open case with Scion and request extended warranty, maybe if we all bitch collectively we can get more done.

Our Scion agent told us he would work on getting us back the amount for the extended warranty we paid and 2 months of car payments since our car has been at the dealership for about 2 months! but like you said we will see!

I was just told that the ECU is showing a release date of 9/20 in Subaru's parts ordering system.

Pretty sure that whistling sound in the background is the last of my patience boiling away.

It's not every frs, but it seems to be roughly 15-20% of the board members with cars here (not very scientific, I know).

The cel/cam issue, along with the other nagging issues has made me wait for the next model year.

No way I could wait a whole year, would be jonesing bad. As long as Scion back up car with an extended warranty, I be one happy FRS owner.

I'll be lucky if I get to drive my 2013 before the 2014s are out at this rate.

I've been driving my car, and everything is working fine. Yes, it will begin to idle rough sometimes but I just shut the car off and turn it back on and all is well until it starts to cough again.

I wasn't willing to leave my car sit at the dealership while they figure everything out with Scion/Toyota. I bought a car to drive it, bottom line.

My local dealer was given approval from Toyota to buy parts from Subaru, and mine will be in tomorrow. Took about a week to get the parts.

In the manufacturing world 20% is a catastrophic failure rate. Engineers get fired over mistakes in the thousandths of inches, even ten-thousandths. I think 2% would be reason for concern, let alone 20%.
