Took mine to the dealer today. There are 4 other FR-S in with the same problem. One of the service advisor has his FR-S in for the same issue. Sounds like it's at least 2-3 weeks for a cam gear and new ECU to be shipped out.

I have a hard time believing that both the cam gear AND ECU are bad.. I would much rather have them swap out the ECU than the cam gear. Also I have read that some folks see the problem again after a cam gear replacement.

I agree. Personally, I don't think they know what the solution is yet. They seem to just be replacing parts, hoping the light will stay off.

Maybe that is why we are not spotting too many F-RS on the roads because most of them are at the Toyota's service departments

Well, Corporate called today. I'm supposed to be able to pick up my car tomorrow. I'm still on the opposite coast right now so my wife gets to enjoy the car instead of me. Oh well, hopefully it stays fixed.

This is a very toned down review publicly stating the CEL issue.

Nice catch on this. They definitely had the same problem. This should be printed in the October 2012 issue for those who have a subscription.

Got to love that line at the end of the article. There should be a thread of all the one liners the writers of these articles come up with to talk about the FR-S.

Awesome, hopefully it works out for everyone soon. I'm sure there's guys' even more frustrated then myself.

I literally broke in my car with the CEL on the majority of the time.

Update today, as you may know the right side cam gear and oil control valve on mine were replaced following a month of delays, then the left side threw the code immediately after they were done re-assembling last week.

I've talked to the tech working on my car, he's taking extreme care of the engine bay. They had a regional service rep there today who's some kind of FR-S Gandalf, he did some diagnostics and made some calls. Final word is that I'll have it back this week. They assured me that they would use care in the repair, and I know the service manager from old school days so I kinda trust him.

Needless to say, I'm expecting some compensations. I'll update when I can.

This is just fucked. Im very surprised Toybaru havent found a permanent fix with communication to dealers about how to fix it. First the delays, then this.
