you are wrong! there is much less to go wrong in a manual! are you kidding me? its connected to the tunnel, and virtually no moving parts! go back to school you are all wet ! its a "no brainer" ya got one?

there is really nothing to go wrong with a "direct drive" tranny, except maybe a "throw-out" bearing after a very long, long time, and this can really only happen if ya "ride" the clutch.paddle shifters? poor substitute for a real manual! not even close! gotta keep in mind, when ya do the "slush" thing,ya give up control of the car to a computer, and that sure as hell is NO fun in my book!..just sayin'..getting my 6 speed (m.t.)
very soon!

If you would have spent a reasonable amount of time with the auto you would quickly realize there is no "slush" about it. Very positive and fast shifting.

yeah! i hear ya but the gears 'float " in an oil bath!
makes it a slush box! its just a derogatory term applicable to all automatic transmissions!

Damn. Some of these vocal MT purist are exploring new frontiers in self congratulatory mutual masturbation. Way to be pioneers! You make the internet proud. If you all hosted a meet it would surely be entered into the Guiness Book of World Records as the largest circle jerk ever! I know you guys are working hard at giving yourselves and each other verbal fellatio but have you thought about taking it to the next level? After all as an amatuer you might be seen as overenthusiastically attempting to defend your purchase to the point of reader pity, but by being even more zealous and obnoxious with asserting your stance, and thus becoming true professionals, you will surely earn respect for your opinions from proponents and opponents alike!!

Another advantage to list for the automatics, you can stop holding your girlfriends hand and do something a little more useful with it while you're not shifting your own gears because your sure not getting any from your girlfriend.

Hmmm, looks like the AT in manual mode to me. No left or right just back and forth.

These threads are always the same old story. It's frustrating to see a new one every few weeks. Even more frustrating seeing one from a month so be bumped. Auto vs manual is a matter of preference. If you need more info than that just use the search function and spare all of us from dealing with another one of these terrible threads.

Some one can't take a joke, and your comment had nothing constructive to it and in no way added anything to the discourse.
