Please, no.

Per Perrin's instructions, the correct procedure is:

Quote:
  1. Apply engine oil to crankshaft pulley bolt seat and threads. Tighten bolt to 33ft-lbs. Taking note of angle, tighten bolt to 94ft-lbs. During this final tightening, bolt should have tightened more than 45 degrees. If tightening angle is less than 45 degrees, replace bolt.

The BRZ engine manual states that you tightened the crank bolt to 14.8 lbs and then turn another 90 degrees.

I've never changed a driveshaft, but I don't imagine it's all that hard. You do however need to get the car up in the air, and that alone raises the level of difficulty for your beginner mechanics.

It also assumes you're using the crankshaft pulley removal tool. Not many people are.

It's fine, not that big of a difference really

I put the Perrin pulley on my car yesterday, not sure if its because I have an auto or not but I probably wouldn't buy it again. Manual cars may "feel" a little better but I honestly can't tell much difference.

Might notice more of a difference when using the paddle shifters.

I agree I have an AT and I noticed th difference right away, but I pretty much always drive in Manual mode.

So you guys with AT's is the pulley worth while? I ask because I'll need to buy the pulley tool (costs $50) to install it. Due to the added cost of the tool, plus the hassle, I'm on the fence on buying it. Would like your opinions on it.

Think of it this way, charge people 5 bucks to use the wrench + majic = profit?

Personally I think it's very worth it. And if you don't care about keeping the tool you could always resell it. I bet you would have no problem finding a buyer given the number of people on here who have asked to borrow/buy mine at a discounted price.

Oh and how do you think a lighter weight pulley is causing your engine to consume more fuel?
