TPMS System Question

Is the TMPS system designed to turn off if the car is running wheels without the sensors?

I put my Work wheels on the other day and noticed that there was no TPMS light. I have never owned a car that doesn't throw that light when there are no sensors, or maybe I have just really never noticed?

Give it 20 miles, it will turn on again.

Thats odd. They may need a bit more time to throw the light. I think the first day or two I didnt have a light on the dash, but from then on the light would always pop on at the same spot on my way to work. I drive 40 miles each way for work, and that area is pretty much the half way point.

Seems random.
Long story short:
I installed volks.. No tpms light
I took out the spare, tpms lights up within 20 min.
I reinstall spare, no light for a while, then it comes on.

I believe it has something to do with timed intervals.

oh well, life goes on. It would make sense to make the sensor smart enough to recognize the presence of the sending module.

I've got lots of Volks and Advans. Currently the FR-S is wearing Volk C-Ultra 17x8.
Going to put my Advan Super Racing V2 on next. Already wrapped in Yohohama AD08 for track work.

I ordered TE37's in 17x8+44 today. How do you like yours? I have never gone so small and am hoping they are what I wanted. My others are 5x114, but 18x95 +22 and I LOVE those, just not for this car.

Only TE37 I have are 19x9.5/10.5 +22 on my Z33.

Lots of classic Volks here. love em.. Great wheels.. Same with Advans. Got some old gravel spec (gtfour rc), rally tarmac (spare 17") and touring champion (spare 16").

Maybe i should start a thread on the older 5x100 volks and advans..

My opinion is that all forums should have an ode to rays wheels thread.
