I think you already have the appropriate ECU, go to another dealership and have them adjust the options.

The effective vin is JF1ZNAA1#D#706034. Any Vin before this is subject to the tsb, so you're fine.

What are you talking about? I asked about S-TT-0044-12. This thread has no attachment for that TSB.

plan on getting this done tomorrow, VIN ending in 6882, which should mean that I already have the new ECU correct?

Has anyone performed this TSB at Longo?

I'll summarize: It comes down to principle. Are you not capable of making the decision to turn them on yourself? Do you require the aid of the vehicle to make decisions for you? The delete doesn't remove the ability to have DRL, it only removes the forcing of it.

Next year the windshield wipers will automatically turn on every time you start the vehicle...oh yea, the washers will spray too, because you might not be intelligent enough to determine your windows are dirty. See the point?

Got my car back after 2 1/2 days in the shop due to "Toyota's Computers being down".....whatever.

Here is the real deal.

All you that say this fixes the window issue and the iPhone in the seat issue and any other issue besides turning off the DRL's are full of shit and talking out your ass. None of those things are fixed with this.

You cannot get the horn to honk when you set the alarm. You cannot get anything other than what is listed in the owners manual. You cannot get remote window roll down. One of you said something about losing your high beams after this TSB? Also, you are full of shit. Do you really think Toyota would bring a car in for a TSB then let if leave without properly functioning safety equipment? Some of y'all need to get a clue.

IMO glad my DRL's are finally off but over all what a pain in the ass. Last time I'm a Guinea Pig for this kind of bullshit.

Ill just laugh out loud!! Everything i said was true base on experience

Been there done that!

Im one of the first to have this TSB done so i know what im talking about.

Apparenty your dealer does not know what theyre doing.

My car honks when you set the alarm. Window problem fixed.

Cellophone was fixed for a while then came back after a couple of weeks.

And yes Highbeams are gone when you turn off the DRL with the OLD ECU. Take note OLD ECU. So it does not apply to this TSB with NEW ECU

Its just like pulling the DRL fuse. It disables the highbeams as well.

.
Don't have a clue how electronics work do ya? That statement alone is why I dismiss 98% of any information on car forums. People with no clue of mechanical things talking like they are experts in the field.

On most things I am a strong opponent of the government telling me what to do, but on automobile safety it is another matter. DRL make a car easier to see - if accidents can be avoided and lives saved with minimal removal of personal rights that seems an appropriate trade off to me. Being forced to use DLR is not much loss of freedom. Do you object to having to have brake lights as well? Head lights?

I simply didn't want them because of how they worked. The DRL's are simply the High-Beam bulb running on stepped down voltage. I don't want to replace them all the time.

I don't need headlights on in the daylight so others can avoid me. I avoid them by paying attention to the road and being a mature driver.
