Going to dealer today so they can start the RO to get me the new ECU, I hope it doesn't screw up the car.

So if i turn off the DRL at the dealership...the high beams wont be on as soon as i put the car in drive... but if i need to use my high beams up a dark winding road.. they wont work? someone know this or have done the drl can chime in
You will loose highbeams when you turn off your DRL with the old ECU

You wont loose highbeams with the new one

My car is currently at Toyota of Plano for this TSB and has been there since 10am yesterday. They installed the new ECU and the car wouldn't start. They had me bring all the keys for it and were trying to reprogram the keys and claimed that the "Toyota computer system" was down and they couldn't reprogram any keys. Car is still there and I'm driving one of their Corollas.

Now I remember why I was hesitant to buy a first year car. What a god damned pain in the ass.

So my dealer is acting dumb. Even though I have mentioned the ECU TSB a couple times, they haven't mentioned anything back about it and want to give me back my car today. (I dropped it off for a couple of other things) What do I need to tell them to make them do this? My Vin ends in 4213.

What is this TSB about specifically? I'm just curious; this is the first I've seen it mentioned.

Why would anyone not want daytime running lights? They are a proven safety feature, you have a low hard to see car!

F my life! Why didn't I read this! I did my tsb this morning to get ready for my exhaust being put on tomorrow.....

THE SAME THING HAPPENED!

My tec explained that the old gateway ecu gets locked out to prevent people from swapping them back and fourth for warranty issues, however the new one came in with "five keys" already programmed on to it. That is the max # of keys allowed and he couldn't add mine on. They are ordering a second ecu for me.

Now I'm stuck in an effing forerunner... AKA: bus.

The dealer I went to had the same issue, told me to bring in all the keys so that can reprogram the new ECU that they've put in. Kept the car for a day and a half and still couldn't get it right. I already called another dealership in the next town over and they said that they can do it. The service guy I talked to knew exactly what I was talking about. I will know for sure when I take it in on Friday morning.

I did search. Maybe the full name of the TSB wasn't used because it only brought up this thread. I'll look again after work if I must.

So to keep the amusement going, I went to Earl Stewart Toyota in Palm Beach Gardens Florida to get the drl's disabled and was told that I need to get a new ecu but they are not making them yet. Manufacturing should be complete sometime in late September. On top of that my vin ends in 7177. Anyone here know anybody that works at any other dealers in south Florida that is familiar with this?
