Do you have link to that TSB?

I was told by a service rep that on the Scion side of things, these are public information: qfpost.com/file/d?g=Mi834xKcn

They are waiting for Subaru techs to get back to the dealership with the next action... This is really not looking too good.
Just an update on my CEL/Traction light issue. After spending 3 hours at the dealership waiting, they concluded that it was a crankshaft valve that got stuck for a split second triggering the CEL light. They reset it, and drove 15KM and it hasn't come back on.

Picked up the car at 11KM
CEL/Traction Light on at 70KM
Reset ECU and the light came back on at 80KM
Reset the ECU again and gave it a good run (4K MAX RPM)
Currently at 245KM and no engine light yet **Crosses Fingers**

That's exactly what they are not supposed to do. My dealership got slammed from corporate for allowing the issue to take more than 1 diagnosis, since that makes the car more eligible for lemon law arbitration. You will see the lights again, it's a matter of time. These lights are not false alarms.

So, here's the latest with my car: Went to the dealer last night after work to check the status. My service rep told me that all the parts are here and that everything would be put back together the following day (today) and after testing and QA, the car would be ready for pickup at the end of the day today or possibly Monday (since they don't work weekends). I told them that it better be ready Friday (today) since I leave town for 2 weeks on Sunday. So, called them just now to find out the status and during reassembly, noticed they are missing an oil seal of some sort. Of course the part is not in stock. I'm told it will be a few more business days before they had the part which puts me at 20 days of ownership, 18 of those days in the service dept. To top it off, now my wife has to pick it up and enjoy the car (assuming its actually fixed) while I drive my compact rental during my trip. My service rep gave me Toyota's customer care number and suggested I call them to see if they can compensate me for my troubles.

Livid. They effed up shipping the part. Again. This time, apparently the package carrier returned the part to Subaru instead of delivering it to the dealer. It arrives Monday now. Why they didn't realize this earlier and re-send another part for Saturdy delivery early AM is beyond me.

Evidently, we can't even ship the right part to the right location. How the hell are we designing cars?

Edit: occasionally I feel a weak pull to walk away from engineering and go into consumer advocacy as an attorney for exactly this kind of reason. But, I just love design too much to do it.

Hey guess what, I just got the call that there was an issue shipping my parts to my dealership. The very same parts that were supposedly delivered last week successfully.... I smell donkey shit.

I really don't know what Toyota is trying to pull, but the least they could do is be honest, or admit that their service techs don't know shit about this boxer engine. 4th week without my car coming up.

Update: So apparently they ordered the cam gear and other internal parts, but not the gaskets that usually need to be replaced when this part of the engine is opened up. So it's just sitting there in the garage, disassembled waiting for Scion corporate to get their shit together.

Seems to be a common theme here.

The common theme is just a stall tactic. They probably don't have any idea at all when the parts will arrive and decided that telling you "any day now" is better than saying "we have no idea".

It keeps customers from doing something rash by at least allowing a few more days for parts to arrive randomly.

My buddy from the dealer said they are having issues with cam gears right now guys. Not positive on all the details yet, but he told me (seeing as I have a BRZ on order) to just be patient after my car arrives because they will probably end up replacing a lot of cam gears.

Anyone else hear of this?

Well at least Subaru has a TSB out for the damn thing. Scion keeps pushing them off the lot like it's nothing. Jack Hollis should give me his damn Cam gears and take responsibility for his company.

I don't think Hollis is at Scion anymore...he was promoted higher up in Toyota for his brilliance....
