hmm. has anyone looked at the difference between a 35 and 45 mm on a caliper?
Its ------ much Go with 40 and you can play with more tire sizing without worrying about rubbing.

True, except you sacrifice the look of the wheel with a higher offset (non-concave, non-flush). High offset wheels just look funny to me. I like concave, or even flat, spokes but none of this arching out and then back in weirdness
i.e. 17x8 RPF1s look funky (arched spokes), but 17x9 RPF1s looks damn good (flat/slight concave spokes).

At the end of the day, it just depends on what your after. Personally if I'm going to spend ~$1K on wheels, I want them to fit just right and look the part.
