Schroth Rallye 3 Harnesses
I like the feel of a harness when racing. Being securely held to the seat lets me keep a lighter hand on the wheel, and lets me concentrate on racing instead of staying put.
The Schroth Rallye harnesses are a good light duty/AutoX/RallyX choice. They adhere to DOT regulations and can be put on really easily with one buckle. Installation is straightforward and relatively easy, using the stock belt locations and no welding. I've used the Rally 4 harnesses on both my RallyX WRX and my STI. But for the BRZ, the lower belt hard points are too close to the front seats for good harness angles. So I went with the Rally 3. The rear mount will bolt to the bracket for the rear shoulder reels. The lap belts mount to the lower shoulder belt mount on the outside and the buckle on the seat on the inside. ![]() ![]() Removing the inner body pieces is outlined in this thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...terior+removal Just stop after his step 2. The second picture in his Step 3 shows the upper bracket mount for the shoulder reel. That's the bolt I used for the rear harness mount. Then I just fed the strap through the same slot as the shoulder belt. ![]() The lap belt is a lot easier to install believe it or not. First, the seat has to be unbolted from the floor. It is held in by reverse torx bolts. An E10 socket is needed to loosen these. Once they're out, the seat can be moved forward to make the lower shoulder belt bolt more accessable. To get to the buckle mount, just tilt the seat partway out of the door and the nut is easy to get to on the side. Now, these are "4-point" harnesses without a submarine belt, so they may not qualify for some forms of racing. But for smaller amateur motorsports, they are a great choice. |

Nice! I wonder if Schroth will come out with a Quick-fit Rallye harness for the BRZ/FRS like they have for some other popular car models. I've got a Schroth Rallye Quick-fit harness in my Mini Cooper, and have had the universal Rallye 3 & 4 in my Neons about 10 years ago.

Subaru changed the buckles on the Impreza in 2007 and Schroth never updated the Quickfits. So I don't think we'll be seeing a quickfit for the BRZ/FRS.

Yeah, I wasn't very hopeful. Thankfully the standard universal fit Rallye harnesses work in most cars without too much difficulty on the installation process.

If you slide your hand down the belt buckle on the inside you'll feel the nut holding it on, that's where the inside belt attaches. |

Hey that's pretty cool! What'd you do about the seatbelt chime?

Are they designed to be mounted on the rear shoulder reels (with an angle)? It just doesn't look right.
