Just FYI, we spoke to Cobb today, they are not currently developing anything for the FR-S/BRZ, sure it is on their radar but don't plan on anything coming any time soon.

I talked to a few cobb dev guys a couple weeks ago and that's basically what I thought.

Unsurprising. They're all about the GT-R game nowadays anyway.

Eh that really sucks. They always seemed like a good company. Seems like they are in pretty good with the Ford and the Focus ST. I'm sure they are excited thinking about accessport for all the ecoboosts out there.

Oh well, their loss. I'm sure some other reputable shops will be more than happy to step in and fill the void. Perrin immediately comes to mind.

How does an NA tune differ from a FI tune if the tuner knows all the parts installed up front? Serious question.
The benefit of the Accessport was the Off The Shelf base maps.. We will use turbo Subaru's as an example. Stage 1 reflash consisted of a stock car with up to an air filter and a catback typically. Stage 2 consisted of a full turbo back. They also had alternate revisions for the Cobb intake on the Stg 2 cars. Some other random things as well.

The big difference between NA and FI tunes is the bang for your buck power gains. This leads to the problem that not everyone will fork over the money when it doesn't seem like they are gaining the same as someone with a turboed car. Not everyone understands the differences of NA and FI and how the car will react from simply tuning it. So customer 1 might see the benefit of tuning his NA car for $800, where as customer 2 might not see the benefits because of the meagor gains.

I am in no way saying I don't want to tune my car. I'm just saying that not everyone will see it as a worthwhile investment. Going by this you have to look at the fact that Cobb will have to invest loads of money into cracking the ECU and then hope they can get all of that investment back. Its the same game ECUTek is playing, but seeing as they are the only company offering any real solution. They have a huge oppurtunity to get their investment back.

I hope so AccessPort seems like a really solid setup. Let them know I'm in if they do decide to make one for our cars.
