Scion Tech said the Factory Torque is 12FT pounds. Talk to Cusco and the said it should be 17FT pounds. And install it while on level surface. Do not left the vehicle off the ground.

The nuts on the painted studs are 12 ft-lbs. The nuts that attach to the strut mount are 17 ft-lbs.

That bar looks like it's very effective at bracing nothing because of where/how the polished bit mates with the blue bits. It's just going to flex with the car. It's very pretty, though....

If you're wanting an actual brace, I'd send it back and get some sort of one piece design.

it does brace the car very well it has zero flex once bolted down and works very well. In fact it is the only strut bar out there right now so far that i have seen that sits high enough to NOT rub on the hose that sits right under neath it which is the reason i bought this one. All of the other bars sit right on top of the hose there and rub on it and would eventually lead to a break in the hose. Just my 2 cents. I can feel it bracing on hard steering it is a little bit more tail happy (don't have the rear one).

Just installed mine. I dont have the rear though. I just took a test drive in my local mountian pass. You dont feel the bar until your in high speed cornering, then it really shines. I was able to tackle corners like never before, mainly because it just feels safer, more stable, and more predictable. I got the one with the brake stopper and that really works good as well.

Not much to say except, people will say anything to justify their purchase. Even if it's a placebo. Jdm placebos work better.

Ya you guys are right. I went and just drove my car again and it actually didnt do anything. my brakes dont work any better from the master cylinder brace and the handling might have even gotton worse! It's crazy how all these company's and engineers with years of schooling design these damn parts. We buy them and expect improvements.

It's a business. $$$ is a factor.
Like I can say the engineers at toyota decided to add dual tips because large dual tips make more power!!
The only way to really test it is to have a blind test and have someone install/remove the strut bar and you go on a drive.
1. removed
2. installed
3. removed or installed

And see if you can guess 3/3 when it was installed or not installed. And then realize your suspension/tires/bushings flex much more than any strut bar would make it stiffer. If anything it will lessen some sound resonance in the engine bay.

Lets say they do work. A hinged one is the one NOT to buy. Why do they make it like that? So they can just design the bracket and use the same bar on many more models. (cost savings, essentially $$$)

mc brace does help brake pedal feel, the 3-4-5mm the mc moves would be eliminated at the brake pedal, thus improving feel, improving driver confidence. It works because it is one of the inputs you directly touch.

It's a nice piece. Enjoy it. I personally like the TRD or Grimspeed(red) ones.
