The nearest E85 station from me is almost an hour away. I'd burn through probably 3-4 gallons just getting there and back, so I don't really consider it an option. Would a water/meth injection kit allow similar results on pump gas do you think?

So badass. I'm curious also to see what kind of heavy abuse it will be able to take at similar power levels.

I'll be running e85 on mine, and will be buying about 300 gallons of fuel on this date each year:

How long can you store E85?

Yes, Meth Injection will provide the same abilities.

Not exactly, direct injected fuel is much more effective, but if you use 100% methanol then you are getting a lot more cooling effect per equivalence fuel, even if it picks up some extra heat from the valves and heads.

E85 doesn't spoil, but it does absorb water. If you are storing e85, you need 2 keep 2 things in mind:

1.) The container you use

2.) The environment

Since it is very sensitive to electricity, soft metals are not good containers to store it in. Also, there are some plastic drums that the fuel will break down. Find 55 gallon drums that are UL guaranteed.

Ethanol will soak up water, so if it is stored in an air-tight container, then technically, it shouldn't ever go bad. However, if you have it sitting in a gas tank, or something else that is exposed to the elements, that would not hold true.

This is awesome, but it will be interesting to see how long the engine will last with 9psi boost with the high compression and stock internals... I would have thought that the max the FA20 could handle would be 5-6psi until some forged parts come to market. Anyway, this is great news. Great news.

Damn that is pretty epic. Any of the number crunchers care to calculate power to weight at these levels and find comparable cars?

Sure man, if you say so. I presumed the guy asked the question because e85 may not be readily available to him. It can't be effective, if you can't even get any in your surrounding area.

E85 is probably more prevelant in the corn growing areas of the country. US E85 is made from corn stock. I think part of the reason E85 is so hard to come by in some areas is marketing, vehicle age, and manufacturer demand. E85 was marketed as a cleaner burning alternative to gasoline, but it gets worse MPG. That isn't bad if you're driving a supercar or high performance vehicle, but when the majority of vehicles that use it/marketed as flex fuel vehicles are SUV's.....

Vehicle age has a lot to do with it because a lot of the driving populace has cars that are 10 years old or so. Now a days with a lot of cars the manufacturing has gotten better, so the average age of vehicles will increase even more. A lot of those cars were designed without any E85 considerations in mind and it's detrimental to older engines. It's like leaded fuel. A lot of cars were designed to run on it, when they stopped making it, performance, mpg, and reliability suffered.

As far as the manufacturer is concerned, not a lot of vehicle companies make E85 vehicles. The 2 biggest that spring to mind are Chevy and Ford. Not a lot of other car manufacturers produce a vehicle that was designed to run on both. I think the lack of infrastructure, lack of benefit over normal gasoline, and the "buzz" of electric/hybrid vehicles are what is preventing E85 from being adopted.

Again, not busting on the OP, but as bad as our fuel pumps sound on E10, I'd hate to hear it on E85.
