Multi TPMS?
I am going to need at least two sets of tires for this car. I don't want to have the tires mounted/unmounted from one set of wheels, so I will need multiple sets of wheels as well.
If I buy a second set of wheels and another set of TPMS sensors for the second set of wheels, how do I go about switching between the two? Can I have two sets of sensors 'paired' to the car? If not, do I need to go to the dealer to have the sensors paired every time I change wheels/tires? -Justin

I wonder about the same. I have changed to new wheels with TPMS sensor and a get tire pressure warning occasionally, not every trip. Do I have to go to the dealer to fix this?

I had read that the dealer needed to mate the sensors to the car.
I'm OK with doing this once per set of wheels (if there's no DIY alternative) but it would become a pain if I had to do it every time I wanted to change between two sets of tires. -Justin

Only options are to go to the dealer (or most tire shops), or go out and buy the right tool. I use the ATEQ Quickset tool. It works well and costs about $150.
If you get the ATEQ quickset you need to make sure you get the ID's for the new wheels. It will read the set that are currently paired from the OBDII port but you'll need to manually enter the new set. |

$150 is less than any trip to the dealer....
Once you have paired the new TPMS sensors to the car, do they stay paired? Or do you need to un-pair the tires you're taking off and pair the car with the wheels going on? -Justin

We use snow tires on both our cars so: 2 cars X 2 times a year = 4 trips to the dealership |
