You mean they lie on the labels?.. but seriously I was under the impression that over time the sun fades the dash, if you want to slow down the fading effect. Use a interior protectant.

This might have been true 20 years ago, but newer materials and UV protection from the glass itself have made it almost a non-issue. I've seen some pretty neglected cars that NEVER had interior protectant used on them where the plastics are still in good shape after just a cleaning. I've also seen older cars that owners babied since new where the plastics would fade, chip and crack no matter what you dressed them with. Interior materials have just gotten that much better, generally speaking.

Of course, some "soft-touch" plastics like BMW uses on center consoles will get scratched and marked up no matter what you use on them.

Oh and are there sunshades out there that fit the FR-S yet?
For the sunshade or heatshield, I ordered one from here:
http://www.heatshieldstore.com/

I picked it up a few weeks ago (they are in the SF Bay Area), and it fits perfectly. If you have a BRZ, just order it under the Scion FRS. That's what I did. I have bought at least 3 other heatshields from them for several other cars and the hold up well and do the job

Yes, they blatantly lie to build people's perception of a product to be greater and different then it really is..."marketing hype".

Ask them for their testing and data sheets by independent labs that documents their claims... (especially 303)

Depending on your exposure, the sun can and will fade your interior over time, but what components that really helps from prohibiting that from happening is the plasticizers in the trim and the glass in your vehicle. These are "real deal" when it comes to protecting your interior. Unless you douce your car with these so called protectants like your an albino @ the beach, you're not doing anything but making these resellers more money and yourself look bad for promoting their use.

I like Turtle Wax Ice interior cleaner. It isn't greasy, it isn't overly shiny, and it doesn't zebra-stripe like some cleaners. I also like the smell.

Question for the detailing pros: What is recommended on the steering wheel and shift knob?? interior protectant like 303 or a leather conditioner/protectant like carpro perl/leather master? also i think the door panels are leather too? what should be used on those parts?

I use the meguire wipes on the steering wheel and shifter. I also hear the lexol wipes are good too.

I believe the only thing that is leather on our FR-S is the "Leather Trim" steering wheel. The padding on our door is most is vinyl. 303 Aerospace protectant can be used on finished leather (leather with a layer of plastic coating). Since most leather upholstery has this coating, I would say that it is safe for our leather as well (be warned that your steering wheel may become very slick after applying product).

thanks. the idea of it being slick has crossed my mind. i just want something to block out the moisture and oil. is the shift knob and the shifter cover not leather?

Shift cover is not leather. Shift knob...not sure. I do have one of those Scion cell phone sock over my shift knob, no worries about moisture/uv/oil that way.
