hey tibsy92, what u said previously in page 2, i HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS YOU! i got the car 2 days ago, a thunder silver MT as well....

to be honest i think I'm just turning a blind eye now, I've driven 128KM and i started to notice it from 60km, i really hope its just the fuel, maybe the dealer used e10 instead when he told me he used v-power....

today, i drove approx 70-80km, what i found particularly interesting was that, the knocking sound after shifting (half second) and rattling sound (2 seconds max) STOPS occurring after 20mins of driving....

i've also noticed that if you release the clutch EXTRA SLOWLY after you have clutched in, the chances of that ugly knocking sound reduces....give that a try....(I'm starting to think this is just a driving behaviour?)

however i still can't justify why there is a rattling noise?

I've done +4000km, always use 98 from a few places but mostly bp newer my house.. the cricket sounds are caused by e10 rubbish but pinging seems to be unexplained.. I guess the rattling may be from fuel lines.. that was the issue in my previous vw.. rattle under heavy acceleration caused fuel pump to vibrate against body and considering the 86 rely on DI on the high end the added fuel being pumped may cause a rattle... I'm just assuring myself the knock/click is just the direct injection / injections spraying fuel.. keeps me from over worrying haha

Considering it's a new development of boxer engine meets Toyota DS>4.. Sounds may just be normal ?
Time will tell with recalls and campaigns from tmca

That's my theory

Oh and congrats.. I've been in love since 22 June.. with mine haha

you lucky guy, june 22 is my birthday, i placed my deposit 2 days ago to get this GT hahaha....

anyways I'm wondering if cricket and rattling sounds are the same thing?
because for me, its either a ratting sound (usually during acceleration) or a knocking sound (clutch in).

and btw, for rattle under heavy acceleration caused fuel pump to vibrate against body, is it dangerous to the car? and speaking about that, the cricket/rattling sound is pissing me off hard, cuz the acceleration sound vroooooom sounds so nice by itself...the cricket/rattling sound is just a show stealer fml

i have only a quarter of fuel left, only got half a tank from the dealers....ill go and put BP ultimate in immediately tomorrow....

btw I'm just wondering, is mixing different types of petrol adverse for the engine?
like i have no idea what the dealer put in to match my next fill up....
if he really did use e10, then i put v-power. 98, BP ultimate into it i guess its alright right?
