Rattle when i turn off the engine
I have a rattle every time i turn off the engine.
It feel like the exhaust system vibrate with the engine and rattle on the frame or whatever. A budy of mine who work for subaru for many years will look at it soon but for now i want to know if im the only one with that problem. Thanks ! |

I've never heard of any noise when I turn off the engine. I would freak out too if mine makes a noise like that.

I tried to put my hand on the shifter but no luck i felt nothing and the ratlle was still there. It seem it is coming from the engine bay or maybe lower near the firewall

The exhaust components, especially the cats will crackle, pop or tick when cooling down. Easily mistaken for rattles or a problem if you've never heard metal contracting as it cools. Sometimes it can be really loud. This is completely normal in most cases.
Here's an extreme example. You'll hear a particularly loud one but if you listen closely, you'll note other less intense pops. They will range from louder to more softer ones. If you live in an area where it gets cold in the winter, and you have central air and heat, you'll hear your metal ducts within your home make similar noises when the heat turns off. Okay. I see. A little short on the details originally. Hard to tell on a forum.
All the best. |

My car is at the dealer right now and the sound is coming from inside the fuel tank. Weird because at the beginning the sound was coming from the firewall then some days later from the back... Anyway they need to reschedule an appointment for further investigation.
i will let you know ! |
