Or buying a race seat. Even without a harness if the seat fits you pretty well you'll be held in. Which obviously saves some weight as well.

I don't know anyone trying to do in between with a harness and stock seat.

I'm still on stock seat, if I stay in DST next year I'll put in a race seat.
Lol yeah that's my current strategy. But riding in an rx8 with a 4-point and an extremely fast driver has taught me how corner entry should be and I can't unsee it. It takes so much time swapping pedals...

Hmmm, what can I sell to get race seats.... Do I need both kidneys?

Edit, plus the whole upper body moving around thing is annoying.

You can get a fair deal on Racequip seats. I think NoHaveMSG has them. I think their FIA legal ones are like $500 or so. The only thing si to pay attention to their width, that way you order the right mounts for it. For example, I went with a Sparco Evo XL and the only mount I found compatible was the PCI mounts.

I always do a double twist on the lap belt before buckling which doesn't allow the lower part of the 3pt belt to move.

I put in a race seat this year because my codriver for nats doesn't fit with a helmet and the stock seat. I'll leave the seat in, though. Sparco QRT-R with a PCI mount.

Yeah I've heard of some folks doing that. I assume it works pretty well, how does the seatbelt hold up to that wear-wise? Also heard of locking the seatbelt at the reel and pushing the seat forward, but that seems like it would be inconsistent.

I think it's more a matter of I have to pick between race seats my wife will hate and that makes rear seat area hard to access (gotta get two or it will bother me), and a catback that isn't stock or drone hell. I can hopefully sell enough of my basement parts collection to make up for one of them and am probably preferring a catback. Probably not the best winter to splurge on car bits around here...

I installed a Schroth Rallye 3 point this year with my stock seats and it was a big improvement and safe to use without a roll bar. Also installs in the stock belt mounting locations.

Either APEXi or ARK are your choices. Or Invidia Q300. You can always go back to stock front pipe like I did and it killed 80% of the noise.

You can also look into a reclinable bucket seat which will double as daily and track. Like BRAUM. Unless of course you have little self control and get BRIDE ZETAs lol

You know, looking at it that might have been what the RX8 had. Definitely more budget and wife friendly than race seats...

The correct answer seems to be CSG Touring 86... But after the hks it seems so mild and heavy lol. But that's a whole other thread I have yet to start.

If it wasn't for tall co-driver I would keep the stock seat (with a double-twist of belt). I haven't noticed any wear on the belt, but I'm sure it causes some.

The CSG exhaust is quiet, though after a few years I think mine is probably blown out. I intend to buy a replacement (or something else) this winter.

Don't waste your money on the CSG Touring, it falls apart and rattles eventually and CSG blames your tuner.

Yeah I don't really want to buy another one because of your experience.

This one has 50k miles on it probably.

Considering most oem systems last forever it's pretty crazy that whatever CSG is building is falling apart within a short amount of time haha
