next step is doing the cam shaft sensor clearance TSB by shimming i tried attaching the pdf next step again is changing a cam gear/sprocket, or more of them but probably just one has got faulty. This is probably what is causing the lag in vvt targeting and the limp mode with dtc |

To my understanding if something inside (Sprocket or chain )was to be worn out it would not run smooth and you would hear that something is off. in my case the engine sounds as it always did. It sounds healthy throughout the rev range. What if the stalling issue that I have is due to to the engine being in this limp mode? maybe its not giving proper gasoline to air ratio, (cuts it off or limits it)? This service bulletin doesn't list the code p0016 I'm not sure its for same issue. But their solution is to put a washer for the sensor that measures for this code. the sensor that I already replaced. It seems too good to be true and doesn't make sense how it could be a solution. Where do I even find this shim or spacer? |

if they replace internals, Why do they still need to replace the ECU afterwards? (I've been driving the car little less but it drives fine, besides not being able to turn off traction control and i think its in limp mode. Its ok for commuting though. I fully reset ecu by unplugging the car, the code came back. problem still persists. ) |

is there 4 or 2 total I need? bc in photos and videos of people working the all sprockets look the same but In those amazon ebay kits the left and right sprockets looks different. also how would u recommend getting everything? I was thinking rock auto for cloyes chain and tensioner and guide kit. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=5756&jsn=683 and getting sprockets from some Subaru parts website, along with all those rubber gaskets. |

A yr ago I had to diag a chevy sedan of some sort that had an occasional misfire on decel and initial acceleration. Went through everything and found out through a source at gm that these motors (v6) would do this when cam chains were stretched. Changing sprockets/phasers wouldn't help. Never did the job as customer wasn't interested in spending the money, thankfully.

So all sprockets are different and have different part numbers. Its so confusing bc parts from 2013 were discontinued and changed numbers.
Each sprocket is about 200 each. I'm thinking to get just 1 sprocket since they are expensive. the side with the code p0016 which is bottom passenger side. or "exhaust, right" part number 13321AA032 I think this is the one. plus the kit from rock auto with chains, guides and tensioners for about $250 plus some gaskets or seals i gatta find part numbers for, plus rtv. so hopefully about $500 in parts. what u guys think @tomm.brz |
