I only want to make one comment on this for clarity, 1/4" rake at the hub to fender equates to a bit over 1/16" at the pinch welds, IME. Lots of the fastest STX cars are running neutral to 0.1" rake at the pinch welds

All of it is pretty imprecise, IMO. Many of us are eyeballing our measuring, measuring on uneven ground, and so forth.
I measured it at 12.75"/13.25", swapped coilovers in the offseason, measured it at the same in the garage. Then I got to the Charlotte Tour and the front of the car was absolutely shit slammed. Measured more like 12.5" when I got home. Raised the front of the car roughly half an inch. Didn't touch the rear. Didn't measure anything. Car is much better and seems to have good pace (even though I struggled with it the first few events). |

Yeah, none of that is an exact science. Just ballpark stuff, IMO.
Also, Chris, soften that rear bar. Maybe put a stock rear bar on.

Not sure I'd be considered anywhere close to the "fastest STX cars" mentioned here, but I hold my own. Mine is neutral now compared to about 1/4" rake before the latest MCS coilover install. Results suggest it handles great, and I'm pretty sure my spring rates are equal front and rear

I am very much looking forward to seeing how STX stacks up at the Finger Lakes Tour and saying hi again! Gotta get a pic of your car, my wife's car, and my current BRZ if I take it, haha. Sadly my old ND won't be there lmao

A lot comes down to driving style. I prefer a pushier setup myself, at least at the limit. I used to drive a WRX for years so I'm more comfortable like that. I see some other videos and people are seem to be very loose in the rear of the car it seems. That's usually faster, but if you're not comfortable pushing the limit that way, it might not work for you or me. Quote:
I'll take your word on it given your experience. I got my info from 949 Racing's recommendations of a 10mm rake at the pinch welds (0.4" inches). Mine were measured at 4.75 and 5" at the pinch welds running a 12.75" and 13.25" center hub to fender measurement. Confirmed at multiple flat parking lots when setting up the height. It's possible these 6/9k spring rates people run play a big role here in needing less rake.

Makes sense, I think. My preference is definitely to have it tend to oversteer, even dramatically so instead of pushing.

Haven't changed my ride height in a long time, though recently changed camber and toe front and rear.
In any case. 12 7/8" front, 13 1/8" rear, so about 1/4" rake square springs (400/400) Really really enjoying how the car is handling this season. |

I'm going to assume no axle issues at that height in the rear long term? Care to share your toe settings? I didn't really like 1/16" in with the rear and might go back to zero all around like I ran in DS. It seemed to work for me.

I also had slight toe in for the rear initially. On my last adjustment I went to zero toe in the rear. To me, the rear end rotation feels much better and more predictable. |
