There is no first gear lockout either. You just need more REVs when downshifting

Uhh, is mine broken then? Because I've always been able to downshift into 1st gear at any speed without any issues... no double-clutching necessary.

I've wondered about that since I drove someone else's which behaved like yours. Maybe the limit ball was left out when originally assembled.

It requires a double-clutch blip at anything above 10-ish MPH. I know what you mean. I was shocked when I first encountered one that didn't resist.

Considering how many times people find ball detents stuck to the drain plug, not surprising It's usually the one on the 3/4 shift fork that is most common due to that fork being able to over travel too far.
