I prefer merging at 80 into 70 mph traffic. Let’s me pick my spot.

To be fair, "cheap" airplane engines cost as much as a whole car, and typically have a lot more maintenance scrutiny.

Yes, if you use Google maps to find "hydrogen stations" it looks different, and I mistakenly thought Google was a reliable source. Further research indicated that to not be the case, hence my edit.

Yes, I know the result of such a test is predetermined. The Tesla would obviously DNF because it crashed out on autopilot.

What's wrong with flooring it? I did it every day when I commuted in my Accent. And the FRS. And the Outback. And the Buick...

Do I have a problem?

True on the maintenance.

A lot of homebuilt aircraft use Subaru, Corvair, Porsche, Honda motorcycle and other boxer type engines for propulsion. Most have just gearing to lower the prop RPM.

I guess I wasn't considering engines for 'experimental' aircraft in my statement.

Even with certified aircraft engines, much of the cost has more to do with low production, certification, regulation and manufacturer's liability.

people are scared that their engines would explode and..you know, loud noises.

The Boxers at full song sound like a garburator full of stuff the grind.

When the wife and I used to have a Nissan Versa, i would floor the thing and extract maximum power for highway passing, the wife would floor it but always lets up at like 5000 rpm....
I asked her why she wouldnt redline it for max power and she tells me she didnt like doing that.

Nowadays it doesnt matter with the X1 turbo 2.0...the thing just goes with authority once you get on it....(but shes always driving in eco mode so theres always that 1 second delay before anything actually happens lol...but it'll go)

0-60 in 7 seconds means you can never use its full power? That's literally the 86/BRZ and I've had multiple and floor it pretty frequently.

Ya. You should be driving an 80hp geo metro because you don't need anything more than that. It'll get you to 60 in a tad over 9 seconds and you can floor it everywhere.

I mean to each their own. I had a 2013 and have a 2020 now, which has been stock for over a year at this point. But both had quite a few track events between the two of them, as have almost all of my other cars that quite a few people would consider "slow" or "behind the curve" compared to competitors.

This car is fine. It's other cars I'm not intersted in.

Hey, my Accent with 110hp* was a hoot around town. It did 60 in 9.7 but weighed less than a Miata and had a hydraulic rack and no abs/TC/bs. Wasn't my favorite on the highway but that was only because it was loud and smelled funny.

i'm more confused after reading that. it seems the official nccc rulebook still states that any vehicle with a lithium battery pack is prohibited from participating and must be kept a minimum of 30' away from anything else.

but then the official statement only really says e-ray's are welcome to participate. they don't seem to acknowledge the rules, or even seem to offer up how they'll be modifying the current ruleset later...
