I can't really into specifics, but I can say that we are looking to expand our lineup with more JDM-specific wheel fitments.

Especially for the Gen 2 cars as not everyone is eager about chopping up a new car for some of these more aggressive fitments.

Keep your eyes peeled though, we'll definitely post some updates once we have something more concrete!

Just got a set of arc 8 17x9 ET42 and I went to put on a set of Michelin ps 4s 245/40/17 and the tire shop said they were too tight to fit. Has anyone else had this problem or is the tire shop not doing something right?

Find a different tire shop. There is nothing special about what you were asking for.

Would you please clarify, did you mean that despite the poke of this combo, for 2nd gen rear the shaving of the inner lip on the rear quarter panel is not needed?
Or was your comment for 1st gen only?
Thank you for sharing!

My comment had nothing to do with the type of car in question. It was only related to the tire and wheel size combination.

I think there's maybe some confusion as to what the tire shop meant by them being "too tight to fit".

Like Pat, from how it's worded, I took it to mean the tire shop somehow couldn't / wouldn't install the tires on the wheels because of some concern they had about them fitting properly with each other, or that they were somehow unable to mount them.

I could see the issue instead being the minor fitment issue at the rear with the 17x9 ET42's noted on Apex's 2nd gen fitment guide, but for them to refuse to mount them at all seems a bit silly.

FWIW, in the fitment guide, they say "Depending on tire size/model and how negative camber is achieved, shaving the inner lip on the rear quarter panel may be required" (emphasis on the "may" added by me). So, it might, it might not.

I'd suggest contacting Apex directly to see if they have any suggestions, as I'm sure they've had some first-hand experience with that particular wheel / tire combo on the 2nd gen by now. They've been super helpful and responsive to me with my questions, and I don't even own any Apex wheels (yet ).

Received my wheels (huge thanks to our forum contact!) and I'll hopefully be able to mount them up soon. In the middle of moving and have other priorities, haha. They look fantastic and I can't wait to see them on the car!

245/40/17 Michelin PS4S should be able to mount to a 17x9" without issue. I'm wondering if the tire shop was referring to fender clearance, just not quite worded in the best way. If you shoot me a PM with some more information I can help out.

Glad to see the wheels finally came through! Looking forward to seeing them mounted on the car.

It wasn't a clearance issue, they specifically said they couldn't mount them. It looks like they tried forcing it on with something metal and scratched them up. I didn't take pictures before and couldn't prove that they did. I'm going to a different shop once another set of tires arrives.

Might might be using an old 'goose neck' mounter that struggles with low profile tires.
