To add, the previous analysis was 4 HPDEs, 3 of those were 100F+ days but the car didn't have tires that could hot lap, especially not in such hot temps, so while oil could hit 263F, it wasn't sustained as I needed 1-2 cooldown laps for every hot lap. |

5w30. Not married to any brand in particular. I've had Mobil1 and Motul 8100 analyzed. non-scientifically the numbers for Motul 8100 look better, but both oils are within spec after use.
Never inspected. Confident there's a RTV in there. If I open things up, it'll be some combination of a confirmed problem from the OEM, i'm adding a baffle because the data being gathered by people much smarter than me show a consistent and significant drop in oil pressures on track, or the thing blows up. |

My contribution,
2022 BRZ with 3100 miles on the odo. Easy break in with the original oil and filter changed out at 1000 miles. The UOA was done on oil that had about 1800 miles on it. Brand: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Grade: 5W-30 Mileage on oil: 1800 miles/9 months (car was parked over winter) Mileage on engine: 2800 miles I think the results are inline to what others have posted. The high wear metals is from break in and should calm with subsequent oil changes.

Final oil analysis results arrived for my 2022 GR86 Automatic.
17 events total on the motor, mostly HPDE and a few AutoX/Drift events in between. Sold with 6,900 Miles in July 2023. |

I love a good UOA and always have gotten one, keep cars well maintained and maybe some luck. My question for everyone is what would you do if you got a bad one other than save for a new engine. Would you really baby it, or dump it off for the next guy.
I only do the UOAs at major milestones like 50k, 100k etc. |

It’s one thing if you have a race engine that you have 10,000’s of dollars invested in to potentially salvage a catastrophic failure that would net 10000’s of dollars in loss. Then doing this test with vehicles that are either warranted or are low in cost why would you worry? Change the oil regularly as scheduled… if you track it cut that in half. Seems silly to bother. I’m waiting for someone to laminate an oil analysis for a car show.

Seems like doing this just puts people into cyclical worry regardless.

I don't expect results to be absolutely predictive of engine durability while tracking. It's just an indicator. I won't go into "cyclical worry" either. If wear metals are high, I'll either quit tracking it or minimize number of stints and laps per stint until I take measures. If wear metals are "normal", I'll continue tracking it going out every stint. I'm curious to see if the oil has normal or excessive levels of wear materials after a few track days, and it only costs me $35 for this one snapshot. No big deal... |

Tracking a car, a UOA will have some useful info. For a DD, it’s just a check and see where you stand. I would not be doing it at 1000 miles.

Early UOA will reveal an issue with build quality well before the engine actually fails. High wear metals? Don't drive far from home. Consider next steps.
A couple healthy reports? Relax and have fun with it.
