Intercooler Core
Looking for an Intercooler core, not a kit just the core. If anyone has any recommendations for an FMIC core, I would appreciate it, we will fab the pipes so I just need the core. Thank you for your help.

Treadstone, Garrett, Bell are all great cores. Garrett gets my vote if you want absolute IAT reduction but sizes are limited.

Garrett or Bell are both good brands. Bell is coming out with a new core design that will give them a bigger advantage, but it's not out yet.

Bar and Plate. Tube and fin is nice, but unless you're making +10K of them the pricing is just nuts.
While a tube/fin offers thermal efficiency benefits and less weight, they have higher pressure drop (size-for-size). A larger bar/plate can offer the same and better performance in a larger size, and a lot less money, but there is weight penalty. For us, we see the price point of an intercooler to be no more than $1,800 (and it better perform!). That is just not feasible with tube/fin. I HIGHLY recommend staying away from budget prices cores, tube/fin or bar/plate. Intercooler cores are like catalytic converters. It's very much a get what you pay for product. A $100 core does not perform anywhere near that of a $500 core (size-for-size). We've used the major brands of course out there and prefer Bell. Even before this new core is released. They make a good product and their customer support has been terrific. |
