Heater core?
All of a sudden this afternoon water started spewing out the bottom of the dashboard on the passenger side. In my experience that's usually a blown heater core. Is there any chance that something they did when the recall work was done could have caused it?
How hard is it to replace in this car? edit: One of the threads that pops up at the bottom of the page said it could be the AC drain. Where is that? |

I hate when things make sense all of a sudden. I ran something over on the Interstate this afternoon and my wife said what was that as I'm looking in the mirror seeing two things bouncing down the road. One of them must have been that tube. Where does it attach inside and where does it come out? Is it just like fish tank tubing that I can get cheap and easily or is it some part that costs a half a mint and has to be ordered?
Grrr... |

Alright I think I got some answers from an FB group. Crawling underneath in the morning to pull the panel and see what's up is the plan. I'll try to get some pics.

Uggh... The plastic panel underneath is cracked but that's not such a big deal I can put a washer under two of the screws to hold it in place so it doesn't flap. The drain hose for the AC only sticks out a few inches and it has a nice bend to it so you can't just stick something in to clear it. I found where it comes out of the box under the dash but it doesn't pull of easily and I can't figure out how to get it off to blow it out with compressed air from the top. I need some ideas to get that hose off.

Hmm maybe. Tough to pull hard when you can only get a few fingers in there but after struggling through to this point how much worse could it get

I didn't get any pictures but solved the problem. Once I got the hose out, blew it out and cleaned it I put it back in and it still leaked so it wasn't that it was clogged at all. The end that goes to the drain from the AC box was all stretched out and didn't seal so... drip drip spray. Getting a replacement was going to be a pita so I used some rubbing alcohol and cleaned it well then trimmed it back about 5mm and reinstalled. Problem solved
I'm thinking that whatever I hit on the highway that broke the plastic panel underneath pulled on the hose just enough to mess it up. If anybody needs to go looking for it in the car it's right next to the sound tube opening. While it's frustrating to get it off a little patience and a cold beer ought to get you there. FYI all that holds the tail end of that panel in is a self tapping screw so if this happens to you and you need to fix it use a slightly larger and longer self tapper with a large steel washer on one side and a rubber washer between the panel and the car so it doesn't rattle. |

Good luck getting it off that easily LOL. Like I said mine wasn't clogged because after 'clearing' it the drip and spray was still there when I put it back on. Once you've pulled it off the whole thing just pulls out from the floor very easily so I was able to straighten it out and see that there was nothing in there but I blew it out anyway. Once I trimmed it and put it back on all was well.
