ah ok thanks much better, they basicly mounted it between the alt and the ac, vs removing the ac. Are you liking it overall? It does look pretty sweet.

Thanks for clearing that up!

Which ECU\Fuel management remapping is planned to use in your package?

The reason why I ask is I would love the out-of-the box bolt-on solution without necessity for countless extra dyno runs and notebook magic dances around the car as we lack serious tuners in here

On a race car it doesn't matter and you can make up to 300hp without engine issue BUT retaining factory driveability with 8psi and the direct injection is not easy. So far HKS are only controlling the upstream injector and fitted a restrictor on the Supercharger intake to limit power because of this.

WE haven't run into that particular issue yet. We had others. We've been able to keep driveability 100% so far. No buggy issues. We'll be turning up the hp in the next week to come.

Any idea what costs are going to be on the supercharger kit. I have a customer interested in supercharging. I've heard prices all over the place and as high as 8500 usd.

Don
This is just me but I would never spend $8,500 on ANY kind of FI. that's a 1/3rd the price of the car for just a few horses that you could gain in an already turboed car for $500 reflash.

Here is a good example of boost generation by a centrifugal s/c. Look at the bottom portion of the graph where it says boost on the Y axis.

As for Roots style superchargers (which Toyota likes to use) you get boost nearly right away like this Stillen Supercharger. Again look at the bottom portion where it says boost on the Y-axis. It holds 6-7 psi throughout the rev range.

Here is another Roots blower at ~20 psi

Here is the "spool up" of a turbo. Notice its exponential build up.
thank you for the information.

whatever we have to wait for the HKS centrifugal supercharger (for 86)
dyno map to know the exact result.

I think they don't have a high boost horsepower, only 250hp. So it "should" boost very early of the RPMs. like original N/A setup.

Thank You HKS Australia for answering all of these questions, and all the other vendors out here on this forum (most). I love how they're pretty involved with their market. Rare in the world these days.

Guess it comes with the enthusiast mentality

Currently the GT Supercharger Kit will be offered with the F-Con iS and plug in harness. This is because HKS haven't yet finished their Flash Tuner for this car. Because the F-Con iS only controls the upstream injector the HP will be limited with a restrictor. I'm trying to find out if we can buy the kit less computer and restrictor to allow 250+ HP as the setup is good for 300hp, then customers can source their own tuning if needed. Otherwise you can buy the whole plug and play kit.
Cheers

Well then my friend this kit is not for you and I completly understand. Everyone will have their own opinion and options to personalise their own vehicle however they see fit and I encourage it. The HKS kit will not be for everyone and neither will a turbo kit. Each to their own.

It's just fantastic to see a manufacturer finally building a vehicle that is cheap enough for the aftermarket tuners of the world to play with on a global scale. It means there will be many options for everyone.

Im biased as i have a SC car. Its great and better than any Turbo IMO. I enjoy the Throttle response etc etc.

Only issue i have with the HKS unit is that it is small. Great lay out.

With a Centrifuge SC bigger is better as you want as much air as possible. Then just control max PSI

Whats that unit make ? I call its probably only 0.24 Kg/sec

I've been lucky enough to ride in a few and drive one GTM supercharged Z-cars and I learned that especially with Rotrex superchargers, you cannot judge an SC by it's compressor cover. The ones in the stage one GTM cars are smaller than the cover on my disco potato(on my SR20 powered 240sx) and they make a good 100whp more than my car makes. I would not at all be suprised to hear that the HKS SC has 300whp in it with the right mods/tuning.
