after opening up a case w/ Scion (corporate) and sending two nastygrams to the general manager of my dealership i got a call @ 8:30pm last nite.. which i missed... and the voice mail said..."... your car is ready for pick-up... we'll wait for you until 10 pm..." and so i went to pick it up..!!! i still didn't get any in compensation for the stress this whole purchase caused.. and since it was late already i just wanted to drive my car back home.... but i also got an email from the customer experience manager... and she will be my target for the 'compensation claim'

car is awesome...!!

One tank won't hurt it. The car is designed for higher octane (at least 91). Using lower grade gasoline consistently will eventually gum up the works and cause you to have to replace parts and fix things earlier. Yes, the engine can retard the timing to attempt to prevent knocking, but the car will suffer both in power and longevity. Numerous experts have weighed in on this.
lol, its not going to "gum up" anything. granted i wouldn't run it in my tank by choice, but one lousy tank of 87 isn't going to do a damn thin to this car. period. do you even know how octane works?

If you look through my post history, yes, I believe I have a decent understanding of it, at least in regards to ignition timing, avoiding knocking and necessity in high-compression engines.

What you are failing to see here is that we are agreeing on the "one tank isn't so bad" part of this. I still maintain that running 87 over a long period of time will do more harm than going with the manufacturer recommendations.
