I totally agree that helicoil is the way to go now.

I still don't understand the broken-ear reference. It looks like the casting is all there. Maybe another angle would help. Not sure.

To long and too big by the sounds of it. Not sure how many threads are still holding actually.

Its about 7.5 threads, its really sturdy as of right now. Talked to 2 Toyota techs when I went to get an oil filter and they said its fine, just to use a little bit of blue loctite and it should seal. But j went ahead and did that and put a little bit of sealant on the bottom of the bolt by the head.

The bolt is slightly larger by the oem bolts by 3 threads but I went ahead and used 2 washers and a crush washer to balance out the size.
