It's tough. You should get what you want but you'll have to wait. So should you settle?

Let's look at it logically.

Do you need nav or a push button start?
Do you prefer the Tom Selleck front bumper of the BRZ?
Do you prefer the understeer of the BRZ?

If you answered no to these questions and the only thing holding you back from the FRS is the 86/piston badge and scion logos then the only logical answer is: Get over it. However, if you can't get over it then it proves my theory that the only reason BMW ever sold any Z3's is because they had BMW badges on them; had they not that car would have been DOA regarding sales numbers.

Buy the FRS and have a 2013 car in 2012. If you're buying a new car why would you buy a 2013 half way through 2013!? You only own it for 6 months before it's consider "a year old".

Get an FR-S

Spend an extra $3k on doing a conversion.

Done!

Maybe the one next year are 2014's?

there are BRZs sitting on the lot, you just have to do some grunt work to find the one you want... I'd go for the BRZ since its the car you want.

This thread should help you out http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9518

I was all set on getting a BRZ, but a horrible dealership experience led me by chance to a Toyota dealer in the same compound. Got a FR-S for about 2 grand less than the BRZ I was looking at across the street (BRZ was marked up, FR-S was not).

It all worked out for the better, as I didn't want the Nav and HID's anyway. I'd rather spend that money elsewhere.

I chose the FR-S because Its the same thing as a BRZ. Only difference is the interior and exterior, just by a little bit. Plus with Scion, the price you see is the price you get, unlike subaru. When I wanted to pre order, they told me it would be an extra $5k over sticker price. They said because " Its a limited car ". If I wanted pay $30K+ for a BRZ, I'd rather go with an STI, More HP and Turbo. You cant go wrong with an FR-S.

I also called a Toyota dealership and I can qualify for the 1k off grad rebate.

I've been driving a car with none of those creature comforts, so i don't necessarily NEED it, but would definitely like an upgrade now that I can afford too.

Yes I prefer the BRZ front, (the Tom Selleck Front).

I have driven the FRS about 7 times and loved it each time. I'm guessing I could put navi + HIDs in myself.

I'll choose to play the waiting game, as months go on, I'm hoping it''ll be easier to obtain a BRZ by november-ish.

But that FRS.. is waiting to be bought

I'm a BRZ owner and I could of done the first 86 program but I really wanted the BRZ instead cause of its few more options!

LED DLR

LED half angel eyes

HID with moving adjuster

Navi system, bluetooth

Those 4 things just got me to wait on the BRZ...dont get me wrong the FRS is beautiful but I came from a Evo 10 and I wanted the same options...... The wait is the only thing that was killing lol

Toyota GT86 HIDS - $2000
Toyota GT86 Airbag\Steering wheel cover - $800
A good aftermarket NAV - $700-800
Toyota\GT86 badges - $100

You could do a HID retrofit for like $400 and have better hids that the bRZ or stock GT86, plus be legal.

I think the fun thing is to that a FR-S and turn it into the GT86. Thats why I am leaning back towards the FR-S.

True and the BRZ is only $1300 more...its really the better deal. Also if you wait, you will end up with the 2014 model BRZ. May 2013 is not that far off...hehe. Heck the 2014 FR-S will probably have HIDS and a better stereo, oh and there will be a release series coming soon too...
