The wait is over for me.

Well after all of the long wait and frustration I was finally handed the keys to my Whiteout AT today. I was really wanting to get the manual. But the family was not going for the idea. So I ended up with the automatic. Well I cant wait to see what the 4 different modes of the Automatic function. But in the end I stilll wish I could get the manual. Almost wanted to use "Well if I have the manual I will never drink and drive because it takes too much concentration.But the automatic will tempt me to drink and drive" excuse. lol. Just kidding. But in all seriousness I don't drink and drive.I havent even gotten a speeding ticket since i started driving(knock on wood).

Why didn't they want you to get the manual? Are you sharing it with them?

They never borrow my car, but like to have the option to. And since no one else can drive a stick I had to get an automatic

Wow, that sucks. My stepfather talked me out of a manual transmission for my first couple cars... he said I'd just ruin the clutch and that automatics shift faster than any human can.

I wanted to punch him after I got my first manual car for all the enjoyment I missed!

Oh well, I'm sure you'll enjoy the car anyway. At least you have a manual shifting mode; all I got were lousy 4 speed autos with overdrive

You'll be fine. The auto on the FR-S is damn nice. My tC's auto was a snoozefest and the MX-3's auto was an utter slushbox. We've come a long way.

@OP
First of all, conratulations!

The 6AT is really good though - I'd still take the 6MT any day, but if I was forced into the 6AT I really wouldn't mind. I would most probably keep it in manual mode 100% of the time though, like I did when I test drove one

Cars are an extension of our personality!! Get what you want and do NOT settle. This is why I don't have an FR-S yet. I want a manual in Asphault and I will wait untill I can get what I want since none of the local dealers have had my color and or transmission choice. I'm in no hurry!! lol
