Over rated? It's literally the best street tire you can buy. Of course you can get a competition tire that's stickier, but you'll get half the life.

The tires I recommended are also street tires. The 615 gets damn good mileage. I seriously doubt you’ll get twice the distance with the PS4S.

I've run the Goodyears and Contis (Don't think identical tires but same "series"). I thought they were perfectly acceptable. No issues and honestly, I couldn't tell you any real difference between them and Michelins as I never directly compared them. All modern tires are pretty damn good.

Have to agree haha. They're a solid 60-70$ cheaper and have a ton of grip. If going for straight speed in good weather no argument for these or RS4's and other similar tires.

Definitely much more compromised as a street tire in terms of comfort and longevity but since I drive like a child on occasion, I'm lucky if tires last 7-10k lol.

In many years of driving subies, first I would stick with 17s if daily driving is important to you. 18s only really offer looks. Also, after trying a number of different tires, I stick with Michelin’s or contis. Everytime I have tried a new tire I end up back with a Michelin or conti and wonder why I switched. Most recent was a bfg comp 2A/S for my winter setup. Other than road noise these tires were great for my highway commute. Good grip in dry and wet and stiff sidewall has good steering feel. Well after about 15-20k miles, the tires got noisier and started to feel harsher. Just switched them for michelin all seasons. My experience is that some of the other brands start off ok, but fade in performance faster than the contis or Michelin’s I have tried.

Same. I stick to either michelin pilot sports, or Continental ExtremeContact Sport. That being said, I'm currently dailying Toyo R888R's on my focus while I wait for my BRZ to show up

I am nervous about running what looks like basically track tires on the street. We don't get a whole lot of weather in bay area but we do get some rain and some days close to 40 degrees.

New Summer tire review out.

Even though the Goodyears produced the fastest laps times, I'd likely go with the Michelin PS 4s for a street car. My guess is that the Goodyear Supersports might sit in an area between the PS4s and PS Cup tires, so they'd likely fall a bit behind the 4s in term of wet traction, ride quality, even wear, etc.

I’m in NE Florida and have had 2 sets of 615’s with no issues in the rain until they are past the bars which is typical of ALL tires. I’ve been running 200TW tires on all my cars since 1997 (in Florida). I’ve dropped to 300TW a few times and regret it every time. I never “double” my mileage with them and the drop in performance is just not worth it for the minimal extra miles I got. They also drop in perf like a rock about half way through their life. The 615’s for example have minimal drop in perf until the cords are showing.

Oh yeah and 40F is only really an issue for the first 5mins or so. Even then it’s not an issue if your driving like a normal person. I wouldn’t go past 8/19ths until they have some heat in them (which is easily possible at 40) but the average driver never exceeds 6/10ths even when they think they are boy racer.

In my experience TW rating is meaningless. For example the RE71R is a 200TW which doesn’t even come close in range to the RE615K+ which is also a 200TW. Everyone I talk to says the 660’s are on another level performance wise than the 615 so my guess is they are more in line with the RE71R range wise (which isn’t great).

Are they even any good in the rain? The point of the PS4S is that you can drive them in the rain as well and still be safe.

Also 200TW is not a street tire lmao, I'd say street/track.

My 200TW Toyo R1R's on my Miata making 150whp only lasted 7000 miles. That's with a way lighter car making less power.

200tw on my mustang lasted 4k miles xD
