Yeah I didn't start wanting till I saw the first concept. Now I can't stop thinking about this thing.

Unfortunately, this car does not meet Toyota's business model anymore. Toyota should just change their US name to "Vanilla". Boring is safe. I am just happy that they are making this car at all. If they feel that it is better suited as a Scion then so be it. It's still going to be a badass car.

sigh, just wait and see the new camry, if it's boring again then yeah knock yourself out and call them vanilla. Otherwise they could pull a Lexus and do some nice aggressive interesting designs

Lexus is trying to make SC more a sportcar than a grand touring.

Yeah this is the opinion I get when I tell people about this car.

They generally say something along the lines of:

"Toyota? Don't they just make family cars that are meant to be as idiot-friendly as possible? I thought Toyota drivers aren't car people, just your average A to B destination driver."

In contrast, Scion isn't much better but let's see if Toyota can change that.

Toyota has had a rough couple of years with the gas pedal crisis and with many of the other car brands increasing quality cars in Toyota's most popular segments. Scion has been tanking as well, hopefully they can turn things around. The FT-86 will definitely help.

Wasn't it already mentioned that the development cycle for the average car is 5 years? Sorry, but I'm not sure if that was you that said it or not Matador.

Even if they started in 2007 when it was just a rumor that would make 2012 the earliest point in time to expect to see a production version right?
