While I tend to agree with you; having a good jack and stands is ideal for doing a large number of different jobs that ramps wouldn't necessarily be able to handle. Some people have a stricter budget and/or don't have the space to store both.
Low profile and long reach jacks seem to be getting closer and closer in price to a typical floor jack and are more useful if you're going to be driving sports cars. Low weight is nicer to use too but then cost tends to jump. |

i've had ramps slide out while loading/unloading the vehicle--always a brown pants moment when the passenger side spontaneously drops with noise as you're backing down(and can't see what's happening)... was also always terrified of driving off the ends..
way easier/safer to centrally lift the car, and place some jack stands under the lift points. i usually just leave the jack in place, but loosen it slightly so it's more of a safety catch.

Well, not all ramps. But standard plastic Rhino ramps are no issue (some metal ramps have a problematic hump). Of course, I'm not lowered, but I still think you could be a little lowered and still use ramps - slammed, probably not so much. But I would have so many more things I would have to worry about before ramps (like just getting over my curb and/or over the aforementioned "lip" on my garage) if I was slammed.

I didn't think it was a joke (and it didn't need to be). I am sure there are issues with ramps for cars below certain heights. I don't understand the "slamming" culture as I think stock height is pretty much perfect for both performance and day to day driving. But there are lots of different parts of various car cultures I don't understand/don't like - but hey, different strokes, right?
