Rear Diff/subrace bushing replacement

2013 frs 155k

My rear diff bushing that connects them to subframe is cracked. I dont see any writeup on replacing the bushing.

Is it doable with bushing press kit from advance auto?(without dropping the whole subframe)
or do i need to burn and cut it out etc...

Also, please give me replacement options. (currently looking at oem)

Tangentially related, but I have a pair of OEM diff bushings new in bag if you are looking to buy some.

Whiteline claims you can do them on the car with some cutting. Not sure if a press kit is sufficient: www.whiteline.com.au/docs/install_guides/Z5294.pdf

I went with SuperPro 80k "street" durometer full replacement bushing. I have not installed them yet.

Air saw the outer race of the bushing till you get a slit. Hit with punch till you get a lip, then air hammer the bastard out of there.

Another option is just replace the entire rear subframe. You’ll get new subframe bushings and diff bushings with it. I would look at shipping from the wholesale sites vs picking up at a dealer. Dealer may be cheaper in this instance.

I've been looking at this lately. I think a clawed bearing puller and the right size socket, washer or pipe bit may work to press the bushing out if you have the clearances without pulling the full assembly down. That's a press through plan.

A pipe with the right diameter and a the right sized bolts, washer and nuts would be great. Refer to Cusco's steering bushing puller. It would pull it towards the wrench instead of away. Which may be needed here for clearances. I like this plan better, but don't see a simple jig to pull it off for these bushings.

Link for jig pull through reference.

I have to do this on my car also. I have been putting it off as I think to do it properly I'll need to drop the diff and reseating the drive shafts is a pain in the ass. From what I have read one bush is basically a slip fit and should come out easily but the other is a tighter fit and will requite a puller or some cutting.
