Depends on what you are doing.

If you are running GTA street class you can only swap from engines of the same manufacturer.

Engine swaps are to be of the same configuration (i.e. FWD to FWD and AWD to AWD)
and be of the same manufacturer.

Most are probably in the Seven Eleven or Walmart parking lot division.

When FA24's become available, and some brave ones figure out how to mate the new engine with the old rest of the car,
curious how much more expensive an FA24 will be compared to swapping an FA20.

After all, FA20's in the 1st gen cars will keep blowing up. If the price difference is not that large, and one needs to put an engine in, might as well opt for an FA24 instead.

That's of course assuming physically fitting it into a 1st gen car is not too hard.

For some reason I don't think they will be Lego piece engine swaps like Hondas from the 90s.

Will there even be a decent supply of the engines outside of brand new $7000+ long blocks for next few years? I'm not going to bank on totaled Gen2s littering the salvage yard for a while. haha
I saw a few were hopefully the 2.4L short block would some how work with their FA20 heads like a K20/24. Not understanding there is a major distinction with how that hybrid build works.

Like I said in the other thread. Nobody is going to know until someone gets their hands on one. It’s not just the FA20 heads fitting. Are the FA20’s cams going to play nice with it? Is the timing cover going to work? Is the position for the reluctor for crank position going to be in the correct position on the block? Sensors? What do we know about the gen2’s trans, is it different enough to cause issues? I’m 10% hopeful it’s going to be difficult. I’m 50/50 it can be made to work without a crap ton of modifications.

Before anyone even gets that far.. The combustion dome will be very undersized and need machined out. FA24 94mm bore vs the FA20 86mm bore. There is literally no room for the pistons with this combo. By comparison the K20/24 is 86mm vs 87mm.
