Just wanted to update on Shell vs Petro:

I have burned through an entire tank of 91 Shell and am on my second tank.

So far it appears that the noise has in fact gone away.

Again - not sure if its because of 0% ethanol or not but it seemed to have done the trick!

BTW: All Petro gas has up to 10% ethanol. They used to have 94 without Ethanol but started adding it a couple years back.

In the original chirping thread someone mentioned that even though by switching to Shell VPower 91 with no ethanol eliminates the sound, the sound re-appear once he rev higher than 4K RPM several times. Have you tried this as well to confirm this?

Thanks.

I put in Shell V-power 91, and i find the engine runs alot smoother, and also for some reason quieter. My last tanke i ran Petro 91, and the engine was quite loud for some reason. So i don't know, for now i will be running shell V-power 91, if not i might go 94 with petro Canada.

At Shell stations, there are two pumps, one that has the three grades, 91 V-Power being one of them. And one that is just 91 V-Power. Is there a difference between the two 91 V-Powers?

No difference, the one with 3 grades is just a blender pump.

The combo pump is molested by all the 'common people'. The V-Power dedicated on is always in fantastic shape and pumps fast and smooth.

And it is confirmed that this is 93 AKI/98 RON since in Japan 98 RON is fairly common.
The Petro Canada by my house sells 94 now, so happy. I'm in Calgary though.

I was just looking at that if anyone was interested.

Has well ill let get the quote from petro Canada but

There 87= 10% ethanol
There 89 = 5% ethanol
There 91 = 0% ethanol
There 94= 10% ethanol

I know that they use ethanol in the 94 works has a octane booster but still kind of strange
Thanks for the video, it was very informative! =D

Just coming back to report, I'm up over the 1600km break-in period, and have solely used Shell V-Power 91 for every fill-up so far, and everything seems to be great!

pretty sure how you drive directly impacts your consumption...
I'm at 8.6 and have been there for 2 weeks now (had the car for 3 weeks)

I also just passed 1600 km and am starting to open her up a bit more, and have also only used shell91 and have had no problems *knocks on wood*
